Merle was the best Joanne i have ever seen....what a voice!!! love her...i wish she would have been cast in the RENT movie.

that Tarzan guy is hottt..but i can't remember him from American Idol either. YAY for Jenn Gamb!! can't wait to see it!

Posted: 12/8/05 at 4:48pmSaw Strickland and Gambatese at the presentation. I already loved Jenn, and Strickland wasn't too bad. And not too bad on the eyes either. And it all looks pretty cool. And very happy to see Donnie in another show, thought he was great in Taboo.

Black guy plays ape. Just as whites are used to seeing him. Not only an ape, but a sidekick ape there to support the white lead. Total throwback.

Hmmm... no one seems to mind that the "bad guy" in Lion King is white (Scar) and the buffoonish sidekicks(Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon) to the black heroes (Simba & Mufasa)are white. Or that all of the "bad" characters in TARZAN are also white...
Give me a break.
If they cast a white guy in the role and made him look like an ape would you cry that he was in black face. It's a no win, I guess.
I don't suppose instead of bit**ing about it, we could applaud the fact that more minorities will be on Broadway for years to come (TARZAN will, like all Disney shows, run for years).
And let's not forget, no one made Chester Gregory audition OR accept the role. I'm sure, from all that I've read about him as a person, that if it were objectionable he'd not be participating.
