On a trip with my brother in law & his niece. He wants to see Waitress tomorrow. I, Fun Home. Thinking about splitting up for the matinee. The fact that it's at the CITS with 90% of the OBC seems too good to pass up. Anyone who's seen both care to weigh in or add something else I need to see? So far we've done Mormon & Bright Star and will be seeing Beautiful & The Color Purple over the rest of the weekend. Is Waitress worth passing on?

Would definitely recommend Fun Home over Waitress. I saw it a few days ago and it's still in excellent shape.

If you can only choose one, I'd go with Fun Home!  Its beautiful.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Whilst I love Waitress, I would recommend seeing Fun Home over it any day. Fun Home is the most beautiful and moving pieces of theatre I have ever seen. Plus, it's so well suited in the round. Fantastic cast too!

Fun Home really tugged at my heart strings because of the subject matter, but the way Jessie Mueller throws herself into her role in Waitress is just in my opinion not to be missed. I'm not sure if you are near somewhere that shows tour, but Fun Home will be touring.

......but not touring with the original cast...which is still there for the most part. I would go with Fun Home as well..though I have enjoyed Waitress. I wish you could do both....

Yes, Fun Home will be touring, but I don't see a world in which Waitress does not also hit the road in the near future.

The thing to keep in mind is that Waitress will tour and be pretty much the same as what it looks like on Broadway in terms of staging and design. The tour of Fun Home is going to be very different from what is currently playing at Circle in the Square (not necessarily better or worse, but very different). If the possibility of being able to see a tour of either is at all a factor in the decision I would definitely say Fun Home then, since this staging is not likely to be repeated any time soon.

Went with Fun Home and was blown away. I'm a long time fan of the show and to see 80% of the OBC at CITS was an experience I won't ever forget. We saw Beautiful tonight and it was by far the worst show I've ever seen on a Broadway stage. To see a show like that succeed and Bright Star fail royally pisses me off. Wish we'd gone with Waitress in the Beautiful slot. Thank God I have Cynthia in The Color Purple to close out the weekend and wash that bad taste out of my mouth. Thanks for the opinions and advice, everyone
