Friendly reminder that casting for the show specifically calls for non-white actors in most of the roles, so even if they were to go for celebrities, we wouldn't be seeing Eminem or Iggy Azalea joining the cast.

"Angelica Schuyler – Janelle Monáe, Anika Noni Rose
Eliza Schuyler – Ariana Grande
George Washington – John Legend
Marquis de Lafayette – Danny Brown, Glover/Childish Gambino
John Laurens – Bruno Mars
Thomas Jefferson – André 3000
Hercules Mulligan – Kendrick Lamar
James Madison – Common
King George III – Zac Efron, Justin Beiber
Maria Reynolds – Rihanna
James Reynolds – Kanye West
Philip Hamilton – idk, Kimye's new son or some sht"
I'm actually super into this cast, except I think Beyonce as Angelica would pull more success without diminishing the character. I'm SO here for Ariana as Eliza. Or even Ariana as Angelica, perhaps? We know she can rap Lin's music. Also, don't know if he can sing, but Paul Rudd as King George?

Although Zac Efron would be a great King, it necessarily doesn't have to be someone young like it is currently with Groff. I mean, we had Brian before.
I think Jesse Tyler Ferguson would be a hilarious King!

One of the best things about Hamilton is its brilliant lyrics, and if Ariana Grande were singing them we wouldn't be able to understand a single one.

Oh I know, I can't stand her with all the consonant dropping she does. But I couldn't think of anyone else young, famous and non-white who could belt out Eliza's songs. I hate to dismiss a woman on a count of her age, but Beyonce would be too old for even Angelica, unless Hamilton and the other Schuylers are cast older than they are at the start of the show.

^Beyonce is only 34 and that's a decade younger than Renee.
If you want some younger artists though, Tianshe, Rita Ora, or FKA Twigs?

34!? Well damn. I'm not surprised because I think she looks older, but because she's been a name for nearly my entire life. The Writing's on the Wall came out when I was still in elementary school. Now I find out she was only 18 when that came out and I'm thinking about my life choices...

Celebrity is the golden calf of the modern age. REPENT!!
The wonderful thing about the success of HAMILTON is that it didn't need celebrities to become the hottest ticket on Broadway.

I agree the show is the star but I don't see the harm in doing a little dreamcasting. I think all of us know there's no way Hamilton could get Beyoncé as a supporting character but it's fun to think what her take on the character would be. That's one of the reason why I'm excited about the mixtape because they can get artists wouldn't be willing or available to do the show to do covers of the songs. (Though Beyoncé would still a pipe dream)

Ariana Grande is actually white.
Also, it's a shame Selena passed on so early. I could so envision her as an Angelica, or in her youth, Eliza.

Janelle Monae would sing, rap, and act the sh!t out of Angelica. Also, Kerry Washington could be great in the eventual film version.

My world is being turned upsidedown today. Bey is only eight years my senior and vaguely Latina looking Ariana Grande is actually Italian.
Revisions to my movie dream cast:
Angelica/Eliza – Beyonce, Janelle Monáe, Anika, and I'll agree about Alicia Keys and Jordin Sparks
Alex/Aaron – Donald Glover (though he'd make a better Lafayette), Terrence Howard, Drake, Pharell, Anthony Hamilton

I'm a little curious as to the official casting breakdown rules on this one. I was under the impression that except in "celebrity roles" that literally anyone can play, when a role creates a precedent as a nonwhite role, the union usually mandates that the role go to a person of color in the rest of the run.
King George appears to be the one major exception to this, but didn't Christopher Jackson originate the role before Brian D'Arcy James and Jonathan Groff? Wouldn't this be a union snafu? (I seem to recall in Rock of Ages that the role of Keith Gill, record exec, was permanently rewritten into JaKeith Gill when a black man took the role in the transfer to Broadway, then written back into Keith for the film.)
Maybe it's authorial intent. Did Miranda specify in the script that the show is for nonwhite performers, or that specific roles are for specific ethnicities? The understanding that I had seen was that the show was written to be a multiethnic performance, but I hadn't seen indication that Burr, as written, is a black man etc. Assuming that diversity remains the watchword for the production, will specific ethnicities of specific tracks shift and switch, or will all future Hamiltons be Hispanic, all future Burrs be black, etc.?

The official casting breakdown listed every character as "non-white" EXCEPT for George who is "Caucasian"

I wonder if LMM changed the casting for George because he liked Brian D'arcy James, or if they explicitly wanted to make a statement about race with that casting slot.

Well isn't the farmers refeuted guy played by a white man. And wasn't it Joshua Henry that played George?

Yes to your first question.. but that's part if an ensemble track, I believe, Some of the current understudies are Caucasian when the role itself is being played by someone that isn't.
I don't know who played it originally, but I know he wrote Washington WITH Jackson in mind .
Boy I hope it was on purpose.

I would give a kidney to see Andrew Rannells play King George. And a resounding yes to having Donald Glover in the show, he would be so awesome!

While they aren't celebrities outside of Broadway, I'd love to see In the Heights alumni Mandy Gonzales and Karen Olivo in the show. I think they would be perfect as Eliza and Angelica respectively. Although I know Karen kind of retired a few years ago (but she's done a few things, like tick tick boom at Encores! last year), Mandy has a voice that would match Eliza perfectly.
