Definitely knew of him. Love how he worked his way up in Fiddler. Happy that he's being recognized!

I so vividly remember an episode of Picket Fences that concluded with a Halloween costume party with Fyvush Finkel dressed as Dracula standing at a microphone singing I Left My Heart in San Francisco.
Perfection!
Just Perfection!!

Picket Fences, one of the best shows on tv, introduced me to him and have been a fan ever since.

He was magnificent on PICKET FENCES, as was Ray Walston. That entire cast was an embarrassment of riches.

One of the greatest series of all time. I hate that only season one is available on DVD.

I met him while seeing a Broadway show (can't remember which one) and he was extremely nice. RIP - he will be missed.

Actually, all four seasons are available now on Amazon. It's an Australian import, but it will play here.

Nicely put. So glad that this gentle man and his vast and varied career are being remembered and celebrated. I attended a performance of Mandy Patinkin's "Mamaloschen" concert and observed Mr. Finkel entering the orchestra section to take his seat. Numerous people walked over to him to say hello and express their admiration, and he was friendly in return. How happy he looked throughout. May he rest in peace.

I saw him in Fiddler. I think he was typecast. ![]()
If he had been 20 years younger when "Something Rotten" opened, I'll bet he would have been cast as Shylock (who is a nice guy in that show). He'd have been perfect!
