I think we can say we predict a show will fail without actually wishing it to be true. I’ve thought many Broadway transfers of shows I’ve LOVED would be total bombs. That doesn’t mean I was hoping they would fail- just being realistic about the commercial prospects of a property. I’ve loved lots of low-rated TV shows too. You can easily watch a pilot and say, this is awesome, but it’s never going to make it big with the general public.
I think Gettin the Band will flop for a variety of reasons, but I don’t wish it any ill will. My expectations are low, but if I’m pleasantly surprised I will sing its praises. Even in that case, it seems it will take a miracle to turn this into a financial hit.

Exactly, Whizzer - there is an enormous difference between "wanting a show to fail" and having sufficient experience to gauge the probability of a show's failure.

its easy and fun for people who never create anything in this world to make fun of or wish ill on people who do. It makes them feel better that others fail as they sit around contributing nothing of consequence to the world other than their own feelings of dread onto people who "do something".
there are lemmings everywhere and 99% of this board are people who don't bring anything new to the world.

Call it what you want. It is still criticism of a personal belief. The first time the opinion was posted, the point was made. Now that is has been posted over 30 times, it comes across as mean and bully like. Or someone who isn't playing with a full deck. After reading your posts for several years and generally enjoying what I read, I thought you had all your cards. Could I be wrong?

Who's wishing ill-will or trashing this show? As Whizzer eloquently explained, observing its prospects aren't great isn't the same as being malicious.
I think a lot of Broadway fans on here and elsewhere would be well-served by analyzing why their beloved shows close.
Thinking that a poorly advertised show with no advance word of mouth and little name appeal opening in the dead of summer at the Belasco will probably struggle isn't being mean.

it's so easy to tell who knows someone working on this show or who is working on this show.
this show is destined to flop. the music's not good, the story is cliched, there is no buzz, there is not even a Z List Star in it, it's in too big of a house, an everyone who refuses to support/pander to Ken Davenport has very good reason to (let's not forget that Kenny D used disabled kids and lied to try to get a "tony performance" funded that was always paid or before the crowdfunded started, the man is a louse).
There is a difference between wishing a show to fail and seeing the writing on the wall.
But, as someone who has heard horror stories about working for Davenport and as someone who was disgusted by the way he lied/manipulated during the Spring Awakening Revivals Tony season, I am kinda wishing this show to fail. And I hope it all gets blamed on Ken's book writing.

No. I am standing up for someone who is CONSTANTLY attacked and bullied on so many threads to count, merely because he had a different point of view. Nobody disagreed with anyone on ANYTHING. Read before you comment. I could care less who one person voted for. I could care less what one person's religious beliefs are. The point I am making BUBBY, is , if the tables were turned on the one constantly calling out this person, then he wouldn't like it. We talk about bullying in the real world on here, everyday, yet some think it is okay, constantly, to do it on here. Is it because they are behind a computer screen? I got the point and the opinion about this member, the first time it was posted. I don't need to read about it again, again, and again on almost every dam thread. It is petty and childish.
