I know this is fantastic news. But wouldn't this cause a continuity eorr as Sue said in an early Season 1 episode that she "euthanized her wealthy, elderly mother"?
Carol Burnett as Mama Sylvester
I've always thought Sue's mom should have been a pushy stage mother, who ruined Sue's childhood by dragging her to auditions against her will. That would explain her antagonism to the glee club.
Now that you say that, I definitely can see a loose "Gypsy" themed episode on the horizon.

I don't think Glee concerns itself with things like continuity.

Worrying about continuity would get in the way of signing guest stars.
Picture it: in Burnett's episode, Sue visits her sister in the hospital/nursing home, and they reminisce about their childhood, running from audition to audition, with Sue as the Baby June type and her sister as a Louise. They then talk/sing If Momma Was Married, like they used to as kids.

I always assumed that half of what Sue says is bullcrap. It would be completely in character for her to say her mother was dead for dramatic effect.
Wow... I didn't think anyone had tapped Burnett for AGES. Woman's got needs, I guess.

I was thinking exactly that. Sue's statement could easily be explained away as a lie--if they would even address it.
Explaining the gay dads seen in a photo in the pilot is a bit more difficult, but it was the pilot after all. They could say Rachel's fathers have had some work done. =)
Burnett is 77. Her present husband is 23 yrs younger (married 2001) So I'm thinking the taps a pretty regular!

This is enough to get me to tune in to an episode, despite the fact that I don't really care for the show. Curse you, producers! *Shaking fist in the air*
As for the dead parent continuity, it could be just as easily explained as the dead-dad continuity from Cheers to Frasier. Sam Malone showed up in Seattle and made the comment about Frasier having previously said his father had died. Martin heard this, is shocked that Frasier had said this, and Frasier replied that at that time "We were in a fight."

I just heard about this, and that is exactly how I feel. Dammit.

Jane Lynch recently said that she herself never knows when Sue is telling the truth or bul****ting. She didn't know if the "Nazi Hunter" thing was true until she saw the script for the 2nd season premiere.
That would be GREAT....but this should be on the off-topic board. A tv show about show choir isn't Broadway..
If BWW can post articles about Katie Holmes and the Harry Potter movies, Glee can be discussed on the main board. It's a TV show starring Broadway veterans; it's on topic enough.
