Ok, both BwayBaby109 and I believe that "The Nightmare Before Christmas" would make a great mega-musical and Disney should SO look into it.
Whatcha think?

I was talking to my friends about that backstage. I think it'd be a little hard to translate...but it would be so awesome if done correctly.
Like, yeah!
I mean, come on, it's got a great score, all these production numbers, a star role, family appeal, and the chnace to be something REALLY different.

If Disney can do the freakin Lion King on stage, anything is possible
I posted this topic twice earlier this year. But those have proabably long since been deleted.
Obviosuly I think this would be a great idea

No, no, Bwaybaby. If Disney can pull off THE LITTLE MERMAID onstage, then anything is possible.

lol touche
Amen to that....I'm still hoping for a stage adaptation of "Moulin Rouge"
I agree with "A Nightmare Before Christmas".
Another great Mega-Musical would be "The Prince of Egypt." that has a WOW score.....
I definitely agree. I'm a big fan of Mulan also.

Hmmm
Nightmare Nightmare Nightmare!!! When I saw the title for this thread, I immediately thought, NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
I worked for a company which tried for two years to cajole Disney into releasing rights for a stage show, involving puppetry, dance, magic and some interesting projection- they just wouldn't say yes. I guess that it's in their plans AT SOME STAGE further down the road.
Personally, I would love to ransfer BIG FISH to the stage. Maybe I have a Tim Burton thing???
There was a truly powerful movie which was released in 1992 called The Power of One. I always felt that would make a marvelous musical; the music wouldn't be your typical broadway style but I think it would captivate and move the audience none the less.
ah, power of one. Gorgeous story. The book's much better than the movie though.
I like the idea of America's Sweethearts as a musical.

Yeah, I'm not sure how they'd pull off Nightmare though. Since the leading man is a skeleton and is "hella" skinny. I mean I guess they wouldn't have to make him look so skinny. Anyways, I'm waiting for Aladdin, I think it has some of the most amazing songs it and the special effects would be amazing. Also, I think the Labriynth (sp?) would be awesome. It has a crazy good score and has a lot of cool special effects.
I can't see how the genie in aladin would work on stage. I guess they have a basically unlimited budget though, so when they do get round to doing it, it'll work somehow.

Aren't they currently working on Alice in Wonderland, starring "The Chenowith"?

Jim Steinman had Batman with Warner Bros. The song at the Tribute Show indicated it was the best thing since Threepenny Opera. It has such a haunting score. Frank Wildhorn is working on Wiating for the Moon, which could be his redemption, as well as Cyrano de Bergerac (which will really better test itself in the West End) and Alice in Wonderland with David Copperfield. I am working on Terminator the Gothic Opera - which I am trying to get through with James Cameron, as well as a slew of interesting projects with people around the world. It's most exciting. We shall see. We shall see. I was rather hoping the next big show would have been Dance of the Vampires - in its proper form - then summoning on Batman the Musical: which was nowhere near in the style of the debacle that Ives produced with DOTV (though we don't even know if he was entirely responsible fr that - hint-hint *Michael Crsawford*). Interesting though. I just hope the jukebox musicals die

Yay for Newsies!
As for Nightmare, I think it could work for a guy to play a skeleton, he doesn't have to be all decked out in the costume and make up, but just enough to interpret to the audience.
I like Nightmare but I think Moulin Rouge would be a sumptuously beautiful stage production.
