I think that Rent should win it again. Because it keeps people employed. Yay being employed!!!!!!!
You're going to have to fight me for that GG stage-sweeping gig if it becomes available!
edit: I believe Pirate Queen is the new Broadway show currently keeping the most people employed.
Vote with your heart people! Arrgghh!!!
Please bitch, that stage-sweeping job is mine!
And no, wickedfan, Wicked should win. Dun. It's amzazzzing!!! Especially Edena Menzelphaba! She so deserevs to win to Tony over that Chrsitne Ebersol person.
UM OK! Let's look at the resumes. I believe my 4 years of sweeping horse stables and my 8 years of helping Mummy sweep the kitchen proves my capability. K? Good.

I still think LaChiusa's THE WILD PARTY should win the Tony. I know I'm three years short of a decade late, but time doesn't heal everything.
Ok, ww, Wicked is like, my guilty pleasure. (I used to be obsessed-hence the name, which I am constantly kicking myself for choosing). We can't go there. I refuse to talk about it on these threads anymore.
But seriously, Lion King anyone? It may kill actors' necks and backs, but hey they're getting a paycheck! That drag queen in face paint should win best actor/actress over that woman who was in Black Sheep and that guy with the gay little article in the NY Times. Ewwwwww.
BsO- Toni Collette should get some kind of award for giving a full fledged performance on a CAST RECORDING. That's pretty friggin' intense.

That just made my night.
wickedfan - All I have to say is...what? I don't think understood anything...please reword it. PM if need be..but..what?
Gotcha wickedfan.
And Anna, resumes mean nothing. It's ALL about looks, and I clearly win in that department.
Anna-the comment wasn't meant for you. It was meant for ww. He got it. That's all.
Uh, well if you meant the drag queen comment, I didn't get it.
*ww is confused*
OH OK. My b. Sorry!
Look WW. You're gonna be kicking yourself in the ass if I turn out to look
<----like that.
And I don't. But it's not all about looks. You're not sweeping a Hollywood movie set. Jesus, the stupidity on this thread ashames me.
:-P
I meant the first section, but re-reading it. Yes, the Lion King reference is weird. By drag queen I mean Rafiki. So wisely named in Forbidden Broadway as Rafreaki. First time I saw the show I couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman. I had to check during intermission. So I have Rafreaki down as winning for both Actor and Actress. Being that his/her gender is a mystery to me.
Ok, but who is the woman and the guy?
*ww is still confused*
Christine Ebersole-played the villain Governor in Black Sheep.
Raul Esparza-"gay little article in the NY Times".
Ah, I get it now. Thanks!
They may be obscure, but they are references nonetheless!
P.S. You know you're a theatre geek when you see Black Sheep for the first time (starring David Spade and Chris Farley), see the villain and shout "I saw her in 42nd Street 4 years ago!" (This was a few years back).
So...yea...back to GREY GARDENS.
GREY GARDENS is by far the best musical this year, and in my dreams will win
sadly, i dont think it will
but one can only hope...

The fact that it is a "long shot" for a show like Grey Gardens to win Best Musical is why the Tonys frustrate me. It is by far the best musical on Broadway right now - it shouldn't even be close.
When it first came out, I was SO sure that it was a lock. No question. Then those other not-as-good musicals appeared. Like SA. And they unlocked...my..lock for Grey Gardens.
But it DESERVES to win.
Dirty Rotten Guy, your avatar is SO great.
It'll at least be nominated. (And Christine will win, in all likelihood, which is the minimum this awesome show deserves. Mary Louise will probably win, as well. Best book is a strong possibility, as is orchestrations and costume design. (if they can see beyond the cotton candy of LB and the traditionalist Curtains))It'll get many nods, I think, including director, score, book, actress, featured actress, musical, costumes, set design, orchestrations. Hope those help lagging ticket sales.
In my perfect world, it wins best musical!
I'll always consider it the best. Maybe it's like my dad says: "My opinion is the one that matters...to me."
"Dirty Rotten Guy, your avatar is SO great."
haha, thanks. I REPRESENT :)
and i REALLY hope Erin Davie gets nominated for Featured Actress
but again, i doubt it...
and Mary Louise might have some competition from Karen Ziemba from CURTAINS... just thinking
Haven't seen Curtains yet, but I honestly don't see how you can get much better than Mary Louise Wilson.
