100% agree with you both. Back when I was in college, I was grabbing a slice in the West Village and randomly read an article about Hedda Gabler at NYTW. Just on a whim - having seen *nothing* before at the Workshop, nor knowing nothing of van Hove / the cast, I got at last minute one of their very affordable student discount tickets.
The whole experience is in my top 5 of all time, from the moment I entered the Workshop completely transformed to being immediately transfixed by Marvel's Hedda trying to find something to do in that vast living room space, my mind was blown. To this day, I can still remember specific line readings' of hers - and that ending packed a wallop.
Been a huge admirer of all of her work since, and while I've been thrilled to see her get TV and film projects (she was unrecognizable to me in the small but powerful role of Sister Maura in Spielberg's Disclosure Day this summer), really appreciate her continuing to come back to the stage.
