Gavin Creel joins "La Cage" revival

Now here's a tidbit we hadn't caught wind of yet. Gavin Creel will join Gary Beach and Daniel Davis in the upcoming La Cage revival. He will play Georges' son, Jean-Michel.

I just showed the picture of Gavin to my mom and she says "When do tickets go on sale?" re: Gavin Creel joins La Cage revival I am not familiar with his work but he sure is a cutie!

I really want to see this show - hope I get the chance.

Having never seen the original prod. I am very excited to see what they come up with at the Marquis. I think this could be a big ole hit.

I'm very hopeful about this revival. It has potential to be such a fun show, I can't wait to see what they do with it now! Perfect creative team, perfect cast, perfect designers, I smell a hit!

I coulda sworn someone mentioned Roger Bart was set to play Jacob, or was that just speculation? He'd be perfect but it might be a bit similar to Carmen Ghia.

Plus great Jerry Herman tunes! The title is pronounced: la Kash o fol. It means the cage of the queens in French.
The meat is always leaner on somebody else's dinner plate!

well an extremely promising design team anyway.

Set design is by Scott Pask, who designed Urinetown and Take Me Out. This is bound to be a wig-intensive show, and the hair/wig designer is a fellow by the name of Paul Huntley who designed hair or wigs for 9 shows currently running on Broadway and won a Special Tony Award for his craft.

The element that's really going to make or break the design of La Cage, in my opinion, is the COSTUMES! It's a musical about a drag musical revue in France for God's sake! so it's going to be ALL about the costumes. The costume designer is William Ivey Long who has designed countless Broadway shows and won Tony Awards for The Producers, Crazy For You, Nine, and most recently Hairspray!

so in a show packed with great music and great talent, we can also anticipate equal greatness in the design.

Matt,

Hah you need not go into the credentials of Scott Pask, William Ivey Long and Paul Huntley. I am very familiar with all their work. I wonder if Pask is going to try and recreate the opening sequence that the original stage version had, with the street opening up and almost like a zoom shot in a movie. And I can't wait to see Long's outrageous costumes.

OMG! Hopefully it is just because it is 5 and the morning and I just got home and I am SOOOOO tired, but I actually just cried when i read that? Im a little weirded out that I did that but: YAYYYYYYY! I was excited about this show b4 my favorite actor signed on!!!! YAY! Totally made a bad last week good! :) lol I dont know how Im gonna manage my winter trip! How am I gonna fit in

I was just looking at info on La Cage and all the info I found makes it look like Gavin will only have one solo? Is that true?
