I Saw Priscilla, Queen of the Desert last night (June 2
and Will Swenson was out and Gavin Lodge was on. Having already seen Will, i was excited to see Gavin as Mitzi. personally i thought he was fantastic! i actually think i liked him better then Will-But thats my openion. i can't understand why the show isnt doing better at the box office. i had heard lots of bad things about it but i loved it! I thought it was really neat that they pulled people out of the audiance and on to the stage to dance. i was lucky enough to get picked and even got to dance by myself centerstage for a bit LOL. For me- the show was a BLAST! Anybody else seen Gavin's Mitzi? (Thoughts?)

Posted: 6/29/11 at 8:07pmI have never posted before. But I read here all the time. I saw the show last week with Will and he was pretty great. I really loved the show and wanted to take it all in again! I went back this afternoon and saw Gavin. I also prefer his Mitzi to Will's. He is not as put on as Will and I think it makes it more believable. But I got to say I am obsessed with Nick Adams in the show. I love his entrance!

Posted: 6/29/11 at 10:14pmI've only seen the show once (Father's Day) and we got Gavin on instead of Will. I didn't LOVE the show (my friend did, however, as did the group of gay men in front of us), but I have to say that Gavin did a fantastic job. You'd have never guessed he was the understudy.

He did! Nick is up there with Tony Sheldon as highlights of my experience...and I got a whole new repetoire of bitchy quips courtesy of Felicia!

Yea, Will does seem to be out quite a lot. I believe Gavin also is the u/s for Bernadette, besides Thom Allison. I don't think Tony's been out yet, though. I know that Nick Adams has been out at least twice because Steve Schepis and Bryan West have both gone on, not sure about the amount of times.
I agree, Nick Adams is a great talent. He's a true triple threat, and although the role is very "him", he does a great job. I heard from a friend Steve Schepis was great in the role as well.

Posted: 7/2/11 at 1:12amMy friend and I were fortunate enough to see Gavin Lodge as Tick this past Wednesday. We had both previously seen the show with Will Swenson in the role and were absolutely blown away by Gavin's performance. We couldn't stop smiling. Gavin is charismatic, fresh, touching, and fun in the well. His Tick is complicated and human. The father-son scenes are real and touching, and he has fabulous chemistry with Nick and Tony. His enthusiasm for the role and for the fabulousness of Priscilla is contagious. Count yourself lucky if you get to see this great performance.

Posted: 7/11/11 at 6:50pmWe had the opportunity to see Will S. in previews and then later Gavin Lodge in the Mitzi role. While we enjoyed Will, Gavin really sparkled in the role. He just nailed it. I hope that the producers were in the audience that night, and that Gavin is given the role when Will moves on. With Gavin, the three leads really click. Gavin's final scene with his son will bring a tear to your eye.

Will, as well as several other cast members, are out in LA because they are performing on America's Got Talent tonight.
I had the good fortune of seeing Gavin as Tick while Will was on vacation. I adored him. Glad to see I'm not the only one who prefers him to Will (who I also really enjoy).

They're performing a medley which includes "Finally" and "MacArthur Park".
By the way... I'm was a bit too excited for this Broadway incarnation of the musical. Sadly, I HATED IT! It just didn't work for me and the entire ensemble coming on stage for EVERY number got on my nerves after the 4th number. Nick Adams is the worst hammy actor I've ever seen on stage in my life. He was trying so hard up there it was painful. Tony Sheldon was basically doing Terrence Stamp. Again... the musical did NOT work for me.

Posted: 7/12/11 at 1:14pmI saw the show last night to see Gavin specifically after reading this thread. I adored him. Such a great voice and he had wonderful chemistry with Tony, Nick and the little boy who played his son. I thought he was perfect and I really want to see him again.

Posted: 7/12/11 at 6:23pmI generally love Will Swenson and, although perfectly competent in Priscilla, I had the feeling that he was uncomfortable. He did his damndest, but didn't feel that he fell in with the spirit of the show. I still love him. And any night Nick Adams is on, you've got your money's worth already. Not to mention Tony Sheldon.
