Gay guy in the Sorority?

Does anyone else think it would be funny if one of the Sorority Sisters in Legally Blonde was a gay guy? I know its suppose to be all girls in a sorority, but I just think a flamboyant gay guy would be hilarious in the group.

Like in Xanadu?

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

cute but not really a good idea. it sends a wrong message...stereotypes.-iMO

in Xanadu . they are not gay...they are men that play muses, they are mythical creatures.. AGAIN... There is no gay muse in XANADU. re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

I think LEGALLY BLONDE has enough gay stereotypes the way it is.

IMO, Legally Blond needs all the help it can get.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

^^^ I agree Ed. Legally Blonde needs all the help.

but not to the expense of putting a gay flamboyant sorority guy prancing in the stage and tourist are laughing...

I agree with WBaf- There's waaaayyyy to many stereotypes already in Legally Blonde.

What about a european man in a sorority?

Can you imagine?

He could give everybody manicures, clutch his pearls during any shocking moment and say "girlfriend" a lot.

I think Legally Blonde is fine the way it is.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

My sorority had male members. Back in the 60s/70s it was apparently the (cool?) thing to do, pledge boys into your sorority. And then they lost their charter for a couple of years. But somewhere out there there's a married couple consisting of a male and female member of my sorority.

*shrug* It's not that scandalous or hilarious or whatever of an idea.

What about a european man in a sorority?

Ok now *that* made me laugh.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

Wouldn't it be funnier just to add a gay guy to EVERY show?

I know Grey Gardens could have used one.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

There is a gay guy - he's in Paulette's sorority.

Actually, I find it fascinating when some of the people on this site say "Legally Blonde needs all the help it can get."

I think for exactly what it is, for the audience it's aimed at, it's fine. This isn't Sondheim, it's pop culture tween and twenties film adaptation. It's a big, pink bundle of fun and one of the slickest promotional packages I've ever seen delivered on Broadway.

There are shows that really deserve this type of criticism. Kicking Blonde is like kicking you sister's dog. We can sink lower against better targets.

How about a gay guy in The Color Purple?

That should keep it from closing!

******

You should see the reaction of the lesbian kiss when I saw THE COLOR PURPLE. I was thinking in my mind...Did they read the novel before they see the show?!

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

Uh yeah a gay guy in the sorority would be hilarious.

It doesn't need any help, it's doing fine and it's reaching the audience it was meant to reach.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

Ummm, no?
I'm with WannaBe, the show is already overcrowded with gay/lesbian stereotypes as it is. No need for more, thankyouverymuch.

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

There IS gay guy in the sorority. Though technically not a character or acknowledged as a "guy"... The person who comes running out in a bathrobe and wearing a mud-mask that shouts "Hey! Wait for me!" then slides down the poll is a man. Let's presume he's gay and bada-bing!

re: Gay guy in the Sorority?

I was actually thinkinking about that a while ago.

It would be funny for a scene or two but become stupid after that.

It could be something funny to on on like LBB's last show or whatever where they usually gag the leaving cast member.

Didn't you hear about Legally Gay? It was the original idea before Legally Blonde - guy gets dumped by his boyfriend for being too gay, then follows him to Harvard Law.

There isn't a straight guy on stage at THE LITTLE MERMAID.

What about a gay monkey in Wicked? It needs all the help it can get. I hear rumors from my neighbor's cat that it's closing in 2028
