Gender Flipping Theater - Dreamcasting

The new COMPANY will be back promo had me thinking of other musicals that might open up new perspectives with gender flipped characters.

Might we see a female Mark in RENT? A female SWEENEY TODD? I also remember the brief Nathan Lane as Dolly rumors that I'd have jumped on.

What do you think?

I think Hamilton should open itself up to gender bend casting. Specifically, Khaila Wilcoxon as Aaron Burr. Heather Headley as Hermès in Hadestown has also been on my mind

In the theoretical suggestions, I would also say it would be helpful to say which roles one thinks should be gender-switched (such as Bobbi being played by a female as a female in Company, or making the character Poppa Rose) or which ones people think should be played in drag. Like the suggestion of Nathan Lane in Hello, Dolly!, is the idea that he is playing Dolly as written, or is the character itself being gender-switched.
