I never realized how much song-writers relied on the setting!

"Gary, Indiana" -- THE MUSIC MAN
"Good Morning, Baltimore" -- HAIRSPRAY
"The Dream of Atlanta" -- PARADE
"Christopher Street" -- WONDERFUL TOWN
"Henry Street" -- FUNNY GIRL
"Amsterdam" -- PASSING STRANGE
"Anatevka" -- FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
"Buenos Aires" -- EVITA
"Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" -- EVITA
"Neverland" -- PETER PAN
"The Gods Love Nubia" -- AIDA
"Goodnight, Saigon" -- MISS SAIGON
"In Old Bavaria" -- THE PRODUCERS
"Iowa Stubborn" -- THE MUSIC MAN
"Ireland" -- LEGALLY BLONDE

What else?
"Cherry Tree Lane" -- MARY POPPINS

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

does The Advantages of Floating in the Middle of the Sea count?

That's a Billy Joel song. But there is "The Heat Is On In Saigon." Also, "The American Dream," if that counts.

I think we had a thread on off-topic a few years ago where we tried to come up with a song for every state -- and I think we did it. Though don't ask me what we came up with for South Dakota.

(did Carole King's "Pierre" count? Geography via Musicals )
