Do we really need a new thread for every award they win? C'mon now, it's ridiculous.

But, as much as I dislike the show they deserved the ensemble award... as for their Golden Globe... not so much.

You know, some of us live on the West Coast and won't see the show for another three hours, so it would be lovely if YOU STARTED THE THREAD WITHOUT A MAJOR SPOILER IN THE TITLE!

Robert Taylor, it's all over the headlines now.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I agree with PJ and WishingOnlyWounds is COMPLETELY out of line. It's a big deal and it deserves its own thread. Period. Just because you are a hater and proven wrong does not justify unwarranted b!tchiness. Thanks, but no thanks.

But, I'm pretty sure there are more than two Glee threads...

I don't think this award is deserved. I mean, what makes Harry Shum, Jr. or Dijon Talton more deserving of an acting award over anyone in Modern Family? Just because you can lip sync and dance to autotuned music (the two actors I mentioned don't even sing in the recordings) doesn't mean you are a good actor or a good acting ensemble (did those two even have any lines or personal screentime over a second and a half camera pan?). I'm a fan of the show and I think many of the actors are hugely talented, but I don't think they are the best ensemble on television. Modern Family is much more deserving of that distinction.

Maybe this is Glee's year because the rest of television seems to be filled with blood and murder and desperation and betrayal and serial killings and angst and although some of those elements find their way into Glee there is also the exuberance of being young and crazy talented and performing live, the same thing that made FAME a worldwide hit.

Those who hate the show should go off and start their own self-wallowing, dark little hateful threads instead of crapping in the threads of those who clearly want to celebrate. What's the matter guys, did someone put turds in the punch bowls at your birthday parties when you were kids?

BTW, as someone working out here in LA, I am constantly amazed they got that show on the air and even more impressed that it found the audience and respect.

I'm a fan of the show, but I don't think it's the best thing on TV. It's a guilty pleasure show with some wonder performances and way-too-edited vocals. It's definitely fun, but not always brilliant (as Modern Family is). Don't mean to trash it so much. It just frustrates me when the "best" doesn't win. Although how often does that happen anyway? I guess we'll never learn, will we?

The thing is, though, if/when Modern Family or any other show wins at the Emmys, people are going to start saying that Glee was robbed. Get ready for those threads! Glee just won best ensemble at the Sag Awards

Both awards GLEE has won (the GG and the SAG) both more than deserved to be awarded to the consistently brilliant, wildly clever, and hilarious MODERN FAMILY.

MODERN FAMILY is on a different level than GLEE. That, to me, is almost inarguable. GLEE is cute and fun. MODERN FAMILY is the funniest and best-acted sitcom to hit TV in a very long time.

"Glee" is so different from "Modern Family" that the comparisons are ridiculous. Given the money and enough writers, any network will eventually come up with a "Modern Family" and in the past, they all have. Doing a show like "Glee" took much bigger balls and taking a role in such a show was much more potentially career-risky. The creators and cast are reaping the rewards of NOT doing "Modern Family."

And frankly, those who keep going on about "Modern Family" do Broadway no service. This goofy little show may turn out to be the best advertising Broadway and musical theatre and live performance has had in years.

Why did Jane Lynch accept the award and speak for the show? Isn't it really Matthew Morrison's show??

Jane is the one best suited for public speaking. She is smart and poised, and is clearly the "house mother" of the cast.

"And frankly, those who keep going on about "Modern Family" do Broadway no service. This goofy little show may turn out to be the best advertising Broadway and musical theatre and live performance has had in years."

And THAT is my, and many others' initial problem with the show; it is sending a message that Broadway is lip-synced, auto tune perfection, which it is not... and the acting on that show is an insult to Broadway. So, yes, it is promoting Broadway, but for all the wrong reasons. (My other problem is how this site prioritizes it like it is on Broadway- it is not. But, that's just a pet peeve. All these Glee threads SHOULD be on the off-topic board, it's not Broadway, it's TV, end of story.)

I agree, to some extent with what WishingOnlyWounds said and I also think this is a ridiculous statement. Just because it's a show with showtunes and Broadway names doesn't mean A) it's better than MODERN FAMILY B) it's particularly well-crafted show C) that anyone who likes musical theater should fawn over it and shouldn't think MODERN FAMILY is far better.

MODERN FAMILY is much better...I just don't see how anyone, musical theater lover or not, could argue this statement. I enjoy both but there is no comparison. GLEE has lots of problems but I enjoy it nonetheless. MODERN FAMILY is, like I said, just in another league.

I think a lot of the posters on this thread are forgetting that this is an award for "Best Ensemble," not "Best Show."

Do I think "Modern Family" is a better show? Yes. But do I think that "Glee" has a better cast with more versatility that take on more demanding roles week after week? Yes.

In my opinion, THIS award was well-deserved.

Funny you should mention that because about a week ago I had a casual conversation with a friend who happens to be a fellow theater lover. Somehow the topic turned to TV shows and she mentioned that one of her favorite shows was Glee.

When I said that I didn't particularly care for it she said something along the lines of "How can you not like it? It has Broadway people on it! And they sing showtunes! What's not to like if you're a theater fan?"

I told her that just cause I enjoy theater doesn't mean I automatically gravitate to any TV show or movie that happens to include Broadway folk or showtunes or whatever. I tried watching Glee for a few episodes and it just doesn't hold my interest (The auto-tuned songs in particular drive me up the wall). However, Modern Family does. I don't begrudge those who do enjoy the Glee, but I don't think I'm doing Broadway a disservice by watching Modern Family or telling people that I prefer it to Glee.

Robert Taylor, I didn't forget that the award was for Best Ensemble. MF's collective ensemble is much better than GLEE's in my mind but I guess you can't beat an ensemble that sings, dances, and acts. Which is why I understand why GLEE won. But MF's material is much more challenging comedic work and the cast makes it look easy as pie, which is why MF deserved it IMO.
