Both shows are leaving us today...anyone going? Post a review here if you are.
OOO i didnt even know Charity was closing!!
I guess i havent been up with the news.
I would really like to go but guess not.
I'm gonna miss CHARITY more than any show closing this year. It was such a good production & its sad that Christina was the only person who they believed could keep the show afloat. I wish they wouldve at least tried someone else. Oh well, make room for WEDDING SINGER.
I tried to get tickets to Chitty a while back, but they were sold out, so I went on the 27th. I'm going to miss Jan Maxwell.

I saw Charity last night and it was absolutely fabulous.
Chenofan, I went to Chitty on the 27th too!
Too bad about Chitty.
I loved it.
I think what I'm gonna miss the most is seeing Raul dance.
A bunch of people from the board are going to be there, so I hope they post lots and lots of details!
Don't forget about Latinologues... I still don't understand how they manage to extend the original run!?
I'm sad I didn't get to see either of the shows. I think I would have enjoyed both of them.
I'll miss you, Charity! Thanks for a great show with an amazingly talented cast. Come back soon, Christina!!
Where were you, Wicked? What row? I was orch. M, right.
Oh, I was Mezz. Row B. How'd you like the show?
Christina was amazing yesterday, best Ive ever seen her. Im almost glad there not replacing her. Im sad its closing but Its her show she deserves to close it.
I'm curious, did Charity recoop its investment? Judging from the numbers , I know Chitty lost a lot of money.
True, mymancape. I wish she would have even extended her stay in it. I mean I know its hard doing high kicks and belting out showtunes 8 times a week for (how long has it been?) 7 months(?). Still she pushed the show so far to make it open on Bway, you think she'd want to savor it for as long as possible and who knows, maybe if she'd have stayed in it a while long they couldve found a "celebrity" to take over for her. I said it once and I'll say it again, I wouldve payed big bucks to see Britney in this role.
I dont think Charity did but I am pretty sure Chitty is closing as one of the biggest flops in bway history. I believe it lost nearly all of it's 20something million dollars worth of investments.
Charity probably came close. Its not a super expensive production (aside from Christinas contract). I would have loved to see Britney take over and keep the show running another year. But like I said I would have felt bad for Christina after all the time money and energy she put into the show, if she didnt get to close it.
ADIOS to both of these trashy productions. Let's bring something with substance to Broadway stages! What's happening to professional theatre?!

442, you've got to think here. Due to these shows closing, most of both casts are losing their jobs. Have you ever considered that?
What IS happening to professional theatre, you may ask?
There's Doubt, The Light in the Piazza, and many more shows that are great and running now on Broadway.
Anyway.
I'm sad that Chitty is closing, but Charity...well, I'm not thrilled with the production, but it's sad to see ANY show close. Except for In My Life.
Sweet Charity has an amazing ensemble. All wonderful dancers. Sorry to see it go.
I thought Chitty was more than worthy of a legitimate place on Broadway and merited a very long run.
It was a gorgeous and entertaining children's show.
I thought the script suited children and adults in a way Lion King did not.
I would happily see The Light in the Piazza again and Chitty again.
Charity I did not like at all though I agree the ensemble was dripping with talent.
Best wishes to the amazingly talented cast of Chitty. Jan Maxwell needs a new project ASAP!
As for Charity, best of luck to the cast. Sorry that the show wasn't as good as your talents.
the casts of both shows were amazing and you could tell both worked hard. i'll miss both shows cuz they are both a lot of fun.
can't wait to see what Jan Maxwell goes on to... that woman was the best part of the show for me
