I saw Sweet Charity both shows yesterday (gotta love that student rush). At the 1st show, David Turner was sitting infront of me & Christinas aunt was 3 seats down from me & her mom was in the box seats. The show was great then but Christinas mic went during the scene where they went back to Vittorio's house. But they fixed it.
For the night show, the opening announcement was "Welcome to this last performance of Sweet Charity". The audience was great! Christina just stood against the lamp post for like 2-3 minutes with all the entrance applause! It was a really great show & I'm sad to see it go.

Wow ILoveWicked, sounds like an amazing performance. I'll miss Charity very much, great songs and a powerful ensemble. As for Chitty, I am equally sad to see that go, the cast was great, especially Jan Maxwell, who made the show for me. Both shows will certainly be missed.

I was at the final performance of "Charity" and I was so glad I have the pleasure to take in this show. Christina was hilarious. She almost looked surprised at the entrance applause she got. I loved it. She show itself was great. The elevator scene was hilarious. I left the theater very happy I got to see it.
I will miss chitty very much. I was at the closing and the cast and audience were full of energy. There were many tears and I hope most of the cast will move on to many more projects. RIP chitty. Oh and I enjoyed rauls speech- he said many of the actors were over qualified (oops no sleep! silly mistakes!) but they had a lot of fun! and Erin dilly returned!!!! It was great seeing her and many ad libs about her pregnancy. As for charity, i saw it once and didn't care for it. However and i wish the cast and crew good luck in the future.
didn't raul say the cast was overqualified?
I was at the final performance yesterday. It was wonderful. Raul was absolutely adorable in the role of Caractarus. I'm so surprised he wasn't nominated for a Tony. What a pleasant surprise to see that Erin Dilly returned for the final show.
The sets, costumes and choreography for the show were fabulous. I just loved the samba number!!
Yeah, it was 'overqualified'. I was there as well. Chitty was a good guilty pleasure for me. I can't wait to see what the cast is going to do next. They were all so amazing. And Charity was packed with talent as well, so good luck to all of the members of the two shows.
My only complaint was that there were way too many underaged children in yesterdays audience (3 years and younger). The brat behind us would not shut up!!

I COMPLETELY agree!!! There were A LOT of really really young children there who cried a lot. Kids too young to enjoy the show...I don't understand!
hah. Overqualified. I guess it's true -- most of these casting choices were pretty surprising. But, IMO, it saved the show.
speaking of recouping investments a while back I have an idea/ question. There is a book out there that lists all the musicals of the century and whether or not htey were considered a hit or a flop based upon whether or not it made back it's investment. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a feature on this site where we could look up flops and hits based on monitary income. The information is out there.
On to Cincinatti for Raul. Chitty was a lovely little show with an excellent cast.
Both Chitty and Charity will be missed. *le sigh* Although I wish I had the chance to see Sweet Charity.
I was at the Chitty closing too. Some of the actors onstage were noticably crying during the show and Raúl's speech at the end made me tear up too. I'm definitely going to miss it.
Dottie, Chitty's rules say no one under age 2 will be allowed, so 3 years wouldn't be underaged. But yeah, the crying kids were definitely annoying.

Sweet Charity was so amazing. It is hard to see it go after all the buzz it got from the board. When I was there last wensday, there was that sense of family from the actors behavior. It was great to witness a great ensemble.
Chitty was absolutely wonderful! I was at the final performance and it was my first time seeing the show. This production truly was "fantasmagorical"! =)
Raul was phenomenal, Erin Dilly was simply a joy (so grateful that she came back for this performance), and Jan Maxwell and Marc Kudisch absolutely stole the show! Loved it.
I actually cried when the Chitty flew at the end of Act I and stood up and applauded when she flew again at the close of the show. I never thought I would see a car fly on Broadway and the overwhelming, child-like joy that came over me when it happened was well-worth the admission alone.
Thank you to the cast and crew of Chitty for a truly wonderful performance. Best of luck to them all!

I was at the closing performance of SWEET CHARITY and found it to be extremely lame. Everything about this production was wrong--from the ugly costumes, to the aerobics-quality choreography (Bob Fosse must be turning in his grave!), to the woefully miscast Christina Applegate. Sure, she's a talented gal, but she fell far short of the role's demands. A Gwen Verdon she was not. I'm glad to see CHARITY go and look forward to seeing Applegate in another Broadway musical soon--one that is suited to her talents.
I would like to say a special goodbye to Chitty. My boyfriend and I just took a trip to new york and we bought cheap seats to chitty and we only went to go to another show. So a day before it closed we went and I found it was a hilarious show and it ended up being one of my favorites. I was so glad I went. After the show we went to the stage door to meet the cast. They were all so nice with one exception and were willing to sign our programs and take pictures. Especially Kevin Cahoon (childcatcher). My camera was having some battery issues when I went to take a picture with him and he said I promise if you can get it working I will come back and take a picture with you before I leave and sure enough he did and was so sweet about it. Also for those Raul fans we asked him what he was doing next and he said he was doing a revival to Company I believe in Cinn., Ohio. He said it will probably end up in broadway and he is playing the part of Bobby. I can't wait. I was shocked since it was only 10 years ago since the last revival but I love Raul so who cares.
Sorry to see Charity go also. I think it was one of the best things on Broadway last year.

im still sad it had to go, i made a cool icon bout it closing (the one with the skeleton charity) but i deleted it cuz i got tired of it
but the show will live in my heart (and in my ipod) for a long time.
thats all i have to say.
(good riddens)
I was on my way to work today and caught a look at Chitty's load out. It was really cool, because the door by the stage was wide open, but also really sad. Now that it's gone, I'm like "WAIT NO!"
