The lyricist(s) and composer(s) of a new score are eligible for an Award if they have written and/or composed a new score which comprises 51% or more playing time of the album."

"I bet the voters didn't even listen to the CD."
Makes complete sense. Because how could anyone with integrity not agree with you. And that's probably why it's been at the top of the charts too.
Bitter much, dear?

Regardless of the many fine people associated KINKY BOOTS and its recording, and even the quality of the show itself, the recording has been criticized even by ardent fans of the show for not properly conveying the energy of the show and being poorly produced. For that reason it shouldn't have won.
Of course, my vote would have gone to CINDERELLA which wasn't even nominated.

"Bitter much, dear?"
Exactly. Plenty of "ardent" fans also loved the cast album, it's a huge success for a reason. The energy was conveyed throughout the entire album. Everyone I know who has it absolutely loves it.

I've said it before: I would like Matilda much more if its fans didn't behave so childishly.
You do your favorite show a disservice by acting so immaturely.

It's a dilemma. I do genuinely feel happy for those involved in Kinky Boots. It must be a great feeling to be recognised for your work in terms of awards, reviews, word of mouth, and make money while you're doing it. However, because these awards claim they are recognising the "best", at the same time I feel compelled to speak up when I don't think the "best" is being awarded and other people are missing out on these benefits. Even though 1. It is subjective anyway, and 2. It's pointless because it won't change anything.

So Billy, Stark, etc get a "Grammy"?

The compulsion is the problem, not your opinion. That compulsion compels you to express yourself in ways that are...well, not your best moments.
The awards given to Kinky Boots don't negate your love for Matilda. In fact, your attempts to negate the awards seem a little crazy. (I should know; I've been in your shoes. More than once.)
Sometimes you just have to let opinions you disagree with prevail.

Ironic, considering that disliking a show based off of its fans as opposed to the quality of the show itself seems, to me, quite childish.
I personally think the “Kinky” album was very poorly made and, even though I am not a huge fan of the songs themselves, the album certainly didn’t do them justice. Congrats to all involved, though.

Posted: 1/27/14 at 1:34pmGilmoreGirl02, I agree. I thought the KB recording was very poor and didn't do the score any favors. I thought it was sounded thin. Cinderella, Matilda and Pippin were all, IMHO, far superior as cast recordings. To me, they all sounded fuller with more professional production.
