Thoughts? I personally think she might be able to pull it off. I'm just glad she's playing Velma and not Roxie.... Finally someone who has the balls to take on the more difficult role.

Posted: 2/11/08 at 11:28pmShe was part of the quartet that sang the revamped "Lady Marmalade" about a thousand years ago. I don't know that she'll sell tickets but not alot makes sense with Chicago "stunt" casting.

Posted: 2/11/08 at 11:34pmStrange choice, I had to really think to remember anything she'd done and I completely forgot she was in the film.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 5:16amI don't understand why "Chicago" keeps casting names (if you can call it that) like Usher, Mya, Melanie Griffith, etc. The show can thrive on its own merit....it doesn't need "names" to fill the seats. Why not give the role to someone who has more talent and waiting for their "big break" on Broadway?

Agreed, jeniferrenepatricia. According to the broadwayworld write up, I dont know what's worse - that her "iconic" hits are entitled "Case of the Ex", "Ghetto Superstar" and "My Love Is Like...Wo" OR that the public actually made those songs "hits".

Posted: 2/12/08 at 11:43amMt favorite song by her is "Fallin'". I have about 5 remixes of it. I haven't seen "Chicago" since the 1st national tour but she might get me to see it again if she is still in it when I am in NYC.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 11:49amJust because you people on a Broadway board don't know her doesn't mean she isn't popular. She is a platinum selling Grammy winner. And she has a history with 'Chicago.'

Posted: 2/12/08 at 12:28pmWasn't she on the "Chicago" calendar last year or the year before?

Posted: 2/12/08 at 1:48pmshe had that song from the rugrats movie. I liked it at the time. Now I cant remember what it was called. I never thought her voice was strong, or that it had any depth at all. Id be curious to see what she does with it; maybe this will turn me into a fan

Don't judge. "Ghetto Superstar" is a guilty pleasure of the grandest proportions. How can you hate a rap song that samples "Islands in the Stream?"
