Not bad for a show with no cast or announced theater.
So that's about...what...one and a half weeks of tickets sold?
And they said it wouldn't work.
True. I hope they got good seats. I wonder what seating chart they were looking at.

I just got mine!
Row C, seat 109 on the...
Just kidding.
Am I the only one who's not impressed with this number?
In Broadway standards it's not really a lot. Like I said...it basically equates to about a week and a half worth of tickets.
Big deal.

That's actually a very impressive number for a show that doesn't open for 6 months and is about to get a free one hour commercial on national tv every week for the next couple of months. Their capitalization is only $10 million and at this rate they should have more than double that amount by the time previews begin.

Yep.

I hardly think you can speak for everyone, Rath.
Yes, but I can speak for everyone. FOAnatic, is the only one unimpressed with that number.

And let's also note that that figure is only for the first TWO DAYS of sales. Only a very small handful of the most hyped and heavily anticipated megahits have ever had numbers anywhere near that in the first 48 hours of sales .
Get over yourself, JohnBoy.
Apparently I speak for at least myself, JohnBoy, and Margo.
And anyone else with any clue as to how shows sell.
I'm an ignant foo'.
But $1.3M for 48 hours sounds like a lot. I wish I made that kinda dough.
well... the numbers are good for them but let's not forget that it's not a show that is completely unknown to the public... it's been revived several times successfully and turned into a very widely popular movie so I can't say I'm surprised by the advance sales. It is a huge ad campaign after all... maybe that's all Broadway needs
It could also be that someone who participates has a very very large family, maybe Kathleen Marshall has more rabid fans that we knew, maybe some of the morons watching the show thought that Olivia Newton John was actually going to be in it or maybe they just use the oldest trick in the book to get the hype going and bought the tickets to get all the couch veggies on the phone... who knows?
Wow..good for them!

Rath, do you get pleasure out of thinking you are omnipotent about the theatre? I know plenty about how to sell shows and I don't find these numbers all that impressive, either. I know you have those "set" people on this board that you'll constantly put down and act superior to. But actions speak louder than words, sweetie. Why not try to be a civil person and state your opinion without making a snide remark at the end. It really shows the kind of transparent person you, any many other people on this board, can be at times. Give it a rest.
Sorry, FYG, I was responding to FOA's attitude with similar attitude.
And FOA and I get along just fine generally, we don't need you stepping in.
::bangs head against wall:: Whats wrong with america? Shows like Grey Gardens.. Spring Awakening.. and others have medium sized attendance capacity and grease will succeed.. maybe Constantine will be danny!?? oy
p.s
i love rath. Rath is my theater god. I'll drink to her.
I would not at all be surprised to see Constantine as Kenickie.
I guess educated theater fans are actually going to see this. I thought it was going to be more or less the general public seeing this production. All I know is that I'm not planning to unless th supporting cast is phenomenal.

Am I the only person who would NEVER purchase a ticket without knowing where I am sitting?
