Well what do we have here...
Well, what happened to the other one with Barrymore?
It appears to be a ploy to get Broadway fans to pay for IMDBpro.
This seems very odd. I'm going to post a comment regarding IMDB's policy on posting movie listings from when the Bat Boy movie page was erased:
We're sorry but the listing has been removed because we've been unable to verify the eligibility of the film to be included at the database at this time.
Please remember that, as stated on our site, we normally list only films that have been completed and released, or that are filming or in advanced pre-production. At this time we could not find any third party evidence (i.e. verification from sources not involved with the production) to support this.
For more details please see:
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?titlesinproduction
If/when the project becomes eligible you are welcome to resubmit it and, if you provide enough data to allow our editors to verify its eligibility, we'll be happy to re-add it. Otherwise it will have to wait until it has been completed and released or shown to the public at a qualifying screening (e.g. a film festival).
Thank you for your understanding.

So, I would guess that there may indeed be at least a modicum of truth to this.
Still, I'm not really believing it.

yeah, what DID happen to the one with Drew Barrymore and I forgot who it was?
Is this the same project but...pushed back?
Sorry, it won't let me login, and when I try and register, it says I already have an account...pretty odd.
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange are doing a film based on the documentary (Lange specified in interviews it was nothing to do with the musical). And that's what the link in the original post is. I still don't know how I ended up with an IMDbPro account, but I guess it can be helpful sometimes. ^_^
That's weird. I was able to look at that page last month and I don't have a pro account. What made IMDB decide to remove it from the public?
I'm glad that they aren't relating it to the musical. The musical is a really nice piece of theatre that shouldn't be polished with some movie.
The page is back up on IMDb. At first, I was really excited, because I missed seeing the musical, but then I saw that it wasn't a musical version.
Anyway, just wanted to post it here for if the word wasn't out. Looks like it's (at least supposedly) filming right now for release next year (It says filming when you look at it from an actor's profile).
I can't quite imagine Drew in the role, but we'll see. She's had all kinds of roles, so she's pretty good at adapting.
click below for production pics. This film is not based on the documentary per se, though it includes that aspect of their story. The film covers their whole lives up to and beyond the documentary time frame. There's even a scene of Little Edie's famous nightclub act that takes place well after the documentary. But the primary focus of the film is the missing thirty year period that happens between acts of the musical, post running away, pre documentary.

So they are aging Drew up to Documenatry and post-doc Little Edie? Interesting.
It's weird, but I'm more worried about Jessica Lange playing Big Edie than I am with Drew playing Little Edie. Other than Frances, I've never been impressed with anything that Jessica Lange has done, and I think Frances was a fluke.
Sorry about updating here, then. I did do a search on the boards, and this is the most recent thing I saw, so I posted the entry here thinking there wasn't a current discussion.
Sorry that I upset you.
Thanks for the pics!
Scotty--I don't much care for Jessica Lange, either. You're not alone. :)
Baine, I wasn't even a little upset. Sorry if it read that way. I was just hooking you guys up to the other thread and correcting some information.
Re Jessica Lange. I looked up her resume on IMDB and realize that I've seen her in about ten movies. She does twisted aristocracy really well. I think she might be okay in this. We'll see.
I love Lange and think she will be great. My only concern is her wretched facelift (oh GOD why did she even get one in the first place.) Big Edie clearly never had any work done and Jessica is pulled very tight with those arched eyebrows. She doesn't even look like herself anymore. UGH! There had to be a more earthy actress available for the role I would suppose.
A few days late--busy week, sorry.
Thanks for the clarification, Artscallion. You didn't really sound upset. I think it was just the caps and that I'm so used to seeing people yell whenever there's another thread in existence, if that makes sense. Sorry!!! *snug*
Bettyboy---Even with a facelift, couldn't that be overcome with stage makeup? Wrinkles aren't very hard to make at all. Heck, if Robin Williams and John Travolta can become women, wrinkles are a piece of cake.
Jessica Lange today:

As the late Frances Farmer in 1982's FRANCES:
My best friend is in the movie with Drew Barrymore playing her first suitor in her early 20's. He is actually on set with her as we speak!

I think Lange will be great and I am confused by chain about her acting. Have you seen 'Normal', 'Titus', 'Sweet Dreams', 'Blue Sky', 'Men Don't Leave', 'Music Box'? As far as her being trashed for her stage work, I (as well as the entire audience) were mezmerized by her in 'Streetcar' in '92. I thought she was fine in 'Glass Menagerie'...not great but funny and heartbreaking. She was maginificent in 'Long Day's Journey' as well. I've been down about her choices in film lately but hopefully this will bring back one of the best actresses working today....My 2 cents!! or 1 cent?
The movie has wrapped filming. Can't wait to see it.
