This seems very odd. I'm going to post a comment regarding IMDB's policy on posting movie listings from when the Bat Boy movie page was erased:
We're sorry but the listing has been removed because we've been unable to verify the eligibility of the film to be included at the database at this time.
Please remember that, as stated on our site, we normally list only films that have been completed and released, or that are filming or in advanced pre-production. At this time we could not find any third party evidence (i.e. verification from sources not involved with the production) to support this.
For more details please see:
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?titlesinproduction If/when the project becomes eligible you are welcome to resubmit it and, if you provide enough data to allow our editors to verify its eligibility, we'll be happy to re-add it. Otherwise it will have to wait until it has been completed and released or shown to the public at a qualifying screening (e.g. a film festival).
Thank you for your understanding.

So, I would guess that there may indeed be at least a modicum of truth to this.
Still, I'm not really believing it.
