I'm sure it will be repeated. It was a wonderful documentary. Had hoped it was a bit longer.....say 2 hours, or at least 1 & 1/2 hours of changes that were made before it got to Broadway.

Maybe, when the dvd comes out, additional footage will be included?

I would check your local listings instead of the PBS site. It aired in South Florida on December 23rd (like all major markets), but I missed it. Turns out it is airing again on January 7th... but the PBS site doesn't state this, only my local listings does. This has happened to me before with PBS not listing all air dates.

Check your local listings for the airing of INDEPENDENT LENS (not GREY GARDENS) and then check the episode info for each listing. You'll see that GREY GARDENS: FROM EAST HAMPTON TO BROADWAY has another airing after its 'first' airing. I'm sure most PBS stations will be airing it again on January 7th, especially those that originally aired it on December 23rd.

It just went off here in Denver. Excellent documentary. I wish it had gone on for at least another 1/2 hour. Very interesting how the music was written to fit the documentary so closely. I saw the documentary a while before the show opened and with the glimpses back that are included here, I feel they did a wonderful job of capturing the Beales with the musical. I can only go by the clips I have seen and the recordings. This documentary just makes me kick myself, again, for not flying into NYC to see the show. I hope there are a lot of special features with the DVD. I will buy it. At the end of the airing tonight, they said that there is more on this documenatary at pbs.org. I already checked out a bit of it.
This this going to be released on dvd?

Does anyone know if there are plans to release this documentary on DVD?
Is this coming out on DVD? I assume it's not but I never saw it and I found a website where I can buy a copy recorded from tv. But I'd rather wait if it's getting released on DVD.
This was such a massive disappointment to me. It was like a long promo featurette you'd see on a website prior to a show opening. No depth at all, with little show footage as well.

Was I the only one who turned on PBS tonight hoping to catch this? I realized after a moment that it was an extremely old thread, nonetheless -- super let down :-p

I had read an interview with kelli gonda (sp?) the producer of the show (and subsequent documentary on the show) that her greatest regret was that more of the show was not captured on film for the documentary and that the production simply ran into too many union snags during the filming of the movie.
