Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's supposed to be released on DVD in the Springtime.

Not airing here in Philadelphia.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

WOW!
Best Xmas Present I will get this year.
Absolutely Brilliant and brought tears to my eyes.
I wish Gettlefinger had been included, whenever they show those old photos I think of her.
I quess Matt Cavanaugh won't age so well, (joke)
I remember how good he was in act I and not so in act II.
It was a fascinating program, and adds to the interest in this story and musical, sorry I missed the DC version while I was there to see WSS.

A wonderful, albeit, breif film. Scott Frankel seems like a very interesting man.

I loved it. I met a real Beale. He was a sweetheart. He walked me through Central Park from Grey Garden's opening night party.
He did not think I should walk alone. Nice, guy! Great special.

Scott frankel is sooooo attractive. I kind of want these press reels, not gonna lie. Especially little edie's outburst. SO GOOD!
Bill Finn rocks. Woot.

I loved the footage of the actual show. I worked on the regional premiere, and it was nice to see the original staging. Tears pouring down her face during "Another Winter..." Amazing.

In case you didnt know: PBS stations can run these things at any time....if you go to their website and look up the doc; you can plug in your zip code and find out if any of your PBS are airing it in the next week or so.
Here in Boson it didn't air yet...but is scheduled several times between now and next weekend.
check it out you might be surpised! It's on my DVR already.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I thought the documentary was nice, although much too brief. The highlight for me was Frankel talk about Little Edie's psychi (spelling?) and how in his opinion she never got to "that dark place that most people go to". I also liked how he spoke about their unique speech pattern. Great observations!
Elphaba3, I also really enjoyed the sitzprobe footage. I basically started bawling when she sang "Around the World"!

Very brief. There was SO much more it could've talked about. Also, I cringed whenever the Gonda's were on screen. That said, it's always great to see some Grey Gardens. The most intriguing interviewees were Frankel, Ebersole, and Maysles. I wouldn't have minded had they only interviewed them.

I loved the footage of the actual show. I worked on the regional premiere, and it was nice to see the original staging.
There are excellent broadcast-quality full show bootleg DVDs of both the original Playwrights Horizons and later Broadway production of the show so even though the show was never officially filmed for release to the public, the show still survives and those who never saw it, can still do so.
Check your local bootleg supplier... they're not difficult to locate.

I have both. I wouldn't call them broadcast quality, but they're excellent.
I keep repeating myself, but I can barely wait for the new Frankel and Korie show this Spring at LCT. Does ANYONE have any idea what the score is like?

Be aware that if you're looking in the TV listings for PBS airing times you should search for a listing for INDEPENDENT LENS, the program showing the new Grey Gardens documentary.

Colorado gets it at 11:00pm this Saturday on PBS 6. There is a preview on the site and an interview in the "making of" section. Ashame the union stopped them from including more footage from the show for the documentary.

B12b,
It played last night. Did you miss that one?
I loved it, and also thought it was too brief. The intro was so long I thought, "They are going to take up the first 15 minutes with this."
I'll have to check with my 'local supplier', Brody.

Crap, Diva! I guess I missed it. I thought they were repeating it on the 30th, but I see now that it's a different episode of that series.
Shoot.
Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD now.
