GreasedLightning, I bought the tickets directly from the Hudson Theatre website, and the last two rows in the center on the Third Floor said $59 per ticket when I was choosing them. However, at the end, I was charged a processing fee of $3 and a service fee of $33. It's kind of bizarre that you didn't see any $59 tickets. Perhaps different ticket purchase websites displayed different prices, but they ultimately cost about the same?

Wait- the Hudson Theatre website has fewer fees than Telecharge?
Just some speculating about the rest of the cast, it seems doubtful Cusack will return. She has several 54 Below dates in the middle of the run. Although things can always change...
Although it's a Tony nominated role, I can't see Carmen returning for it. I think Rashad is the most likely to return.

Oops, sorry for confusing everyone. You are right, I haven't sat in a balcony section for so long that I must have misstated it as mezzanine, lol!

Well color me annoyed that I didn't just cross my fingers and hope that they'd transfer it to Broadway. I think I would have enjoyed a more fully staged version much better. I'm more excited by the Hudson Theater reopening as a Broadway house.
Good for Jake, Jake fans, Sunday and Sondheim fans (etc.), but I'd love to see Jake in something else. My guess is tickets are going to go fast.

Wait 33 for service fee? I got the balcony $79 seats n service fee was $11.00 thru the Hudson website
There is absolutely no way there was a $33 service fee. I'm telling you, something is not right there.
I'd triple check that and then contact the venue with the issue. Seems a glitch and overcharge occurred.
The press release indicated that the show would not make a profit. The producers just wanted a high profile vehicle to open the theatre with.
It is too bad they did not wait until next year so Jake could get have a better chance of nabbing the Tony.
Some friends of mine at a particular theatre have a pool going on the identification of After Eight.
The Times announcement regarding making a profit:
"The short run in a 964-seat theater will make it difficult to recoup capitalization costs, but a spokeswoman said that the company believed it could be done. The company has been eager to land a starry first production that would bring attention to the theater, which is on West 44th Street and most recently has been used as a hotel event space."
Difficult but they think it's possible.
I do think while the production will be more 'fully realized' - its still going to be rather simple in the design department. Thats probably their key to recouping quickly. That and I bet Gyllenhaal is probably working for close to scale.
But those expecting elaborate scenery and costume recreations from the OBC will likely be disappointed.

The service fee is $11 per ticket, so they likely bought 3 tickets.

The name of the game is to make a profit. That's the key. If they can do that, then they can boast about it for eons to come.
And you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll never stop hearing about it!
I rather have the full orchestrations from the concert than an elaborate set, but of course I hope there's more of a set than what was seen in the concert.
The last revival had stunning use of projection designs in what was otherwise a very, very simple set.
If you haven't seen this video, detailing those projection designs, you should watch it.

I saw the last revival and enjoyed it, but looking back, it felt a little cold. This production has so much warmth which really heightens the emotional aspects of the piece. The projections were indeed impressive but the five piece orchestration was embarrassing, causing Sondheim to even express his disappointment with them in a public misunderstanding between Todd Haimes and himself.
The last revival wasn't cold in the UK. But I can imagine it might have felt that way in Studio 54. The smaller orchestration was of course less an issue in London when the theatre was a third the size.
Yep, I did feel a little disconnected from the production in the rear mezz of Studio 54.
Also, did anyone really love Daniel Evans?
Daniel Evans had loads of fans on this board when that revival ran.

That's because it is. Cold and lifeless. It could be performed in the Mojave Desert and would still be as cold as ice. It would make the ambient temperature drop 80 degrees.

Valentina,
I like the truth, that's all. And I don't like the way it has been railroaded for nearly fifty years now to suit elitist agendas.
People like what they like - some people like smart intelligent shows which make you want to ask questions, do self-reflection, feel something. Some people like sheer entertainment which will make them forget about everything and simply get lost in the glamour. That's the truth - if anything, you're railroading it because a show others might have liked is too elite for you.
