Hair was rumored to be going to the Shubert for quite some time, but it was ultimately snatched up by another musical for next fall. (Again, the rumor mill, but I think it's where Addams Family will be going). Meanwhile, Blithe Spirit has been announced to begin previews at the Shubert on February 26.

Sort of off topic but at the same time not.....

As of right now, J-Groff is NOT following Hair to Broadway. Whether that means that Hanke is going, I don't know. But Groff currently has no plans to transfer with it.

what?! I thought it was a given that groff was going to transfer. what other projects is he going to do? Is hanke currently doing any other projects that would conflict with hair opening?

If it were Hanke playing Claude I would pee my pants and get on the first plane from London to NY to see him. I saw him 5 times in the park this summer and LOVED him! Though I'm sure Groff is outstanding as well.

Personally I see this as a good thing. I never cared for Groff in HAIR, I liked Hanke a lot more. I though Groff was miscast even though he was the critic's darling.
Perhaps they will bring Hanke in or find someone more befitting the role of Claude.

I saw both Hanke and Groff and I thought they were both miscast. I have seen more productions of this show than any other and I've been in it twice so forgive me ifI'm a little biased...
