Anyone else a little bothered that they would cut "Mama I'm a Big Girl Now" for time reasons and not to slow down the film, yet they added two new songs? "Mama I'm..." is one of my favorite songs and I think it would enhance the fun of the film!!!
Let's just hope this one won't be a bunch of crap like Phantom!
Where did you see/hear that it's been cut. It's one of my favorite numbers, too.
Yeah, I'm not happy with Mama I'm A Big Girl Now being cut.
I love that song.
Dottie, I heard about it on the official Hairspray the movie blog.

No. Uncle Marc is working very closely with the film. I trust him very much.
i am mad! That is my 2nd favorite song. They said they might add it to the end credits
It wasn't cut for time reasons but because it didn't add anything to the film in terms of plot development. The characters have already been explained by the time that number would have come in.
It wasn't filmed but might be recorded. Per Marc Shaiman, it might be used at the end credits or just for the CD soundtrack of the film.
It should atleast be recorded.
I really hope it is recorded.
Your reaction is illogical. It was cut because it prolonged that point in the film. In film, you really have to keep things moving along.
The fact that they cut it makes me very, very, very, very proud of the writing team. It shows that they care about the plot and aren't just doing a stage-to-screen transfer, a la RENT, PRODUCERS, and PHANTOM.
I hear they replaced it with The Lonely Goatherd... and moved Ooom-Pa-Pa into the tavern towards the very end!

Thats a good point, a very good point.
Its nice to see them caring more than the average writers for those movies.
I just hope we atleast get to hear them sing it.

They also cut it because it assoicates Tracy and Amber too early.

HAHAHA. Good one best12.
I tyhink it still may b eon the cd...Marc hinted at something.
yeah, I'm disappointed. They also cut "It Takes Two." I think the movie is going to be a huge hit though. It's perfectly cast!!! I'm only weary about Zac Efron being Link, but maybe that's just cause he's my favorite character and I've never seen High School Musical.

The title of this thread is pretty vague, could you change it? I opened it expecting some real news about the movie only to find another person complaining about it.
"It Takes Two" wasn't cut from the film. Link has a 2nd song called "Ladie's Choice" which isn't a replacement for "It Takes Two". Both songs are in the film.
"Ladies' Choice" replaces the musical scene of "The Madison". There is a list of musical numbers on the film's Wikipedia page.

Did they ever actually say that "It Takes Two" wasn't cut?
No, but it was confirmed from Mateo's old Hairspray Blog.

That same page says "It Takes Two" IS cut...

I agree with this comment. :3

I think that you saying that my reaction is illogical is ridiculous. That song is one of the best moments in the stage show and would if anything add to the movie. It is a very upbeat fun song, that I think it would be a moment to draw audiences that are not familiar with the show in. I enjoy that song much more than any of Seaweed songs, or the parents song or that god awful "Cooties" song!
Also, you said that they werent going to do a stage to film adaptaion but two of the three filmed musicals you named were changed for the movie. RENT was almost nothing like the stage show and neither was Phantom. Both films cut out the sung dialogue, cut songs, reworked the story line, and added stuff. So your examples are wrong.

While it is on of my faves, I have to say that I think they are making the right choice.
I can't wait for a real trailer!
