i wonder if cooties got cut though? since it's labeled after YCSTB??? i wouldnt think so after they did all that stuff with Aimee and made it fresh...hm....im glad to see "new girl in town" on the album, is that song any good?? : )

New Girl in Town is awesome! Especially how it is played out on screen.


When I saw it - and it may change- who knows.
Cooties is now a background song for all the eligible councilettes to dance to, during the Miss Teenage Hairspray Competition.

thanks, mateo! i know "new girl in town" was originally written for the broadway show, but cut. i cant wait to hear it!! i just thought it strange that cooties was listed after YCSTB, unless the order isnt right? oh well...i cant wait for new girl in town!!

Why is that former ghetto talk-show host Rikki Lake on this album? She never did the show on Broadway or has anything to do with it. I don't get why she recorded anything for this movie.

just on the soundtrack.

of what i saw in the movie there was no real singer for cooties- the lyrics, "she's got cooties!" is there in the background, but nothing else... perhaps a singer had not layed down vocals at the time, since it was all temp score- but who knows, it may remain just that way.

Well I know for a fact that the producers asked Diana Degarmo if she wanted to dub the Penny singing shortly after losing out for the actual role. She was fairly vocal about it backstage during her 2nd Broadway run.
