Lately movies seem to come out on DVD 4 months after release. So, I'm thinking sometime in November.

What...?

Were you just simply stating that you think the DVD was going to come out sometime during Christmas, or did you get it from a reliable source?

I thought it would be a CHRISTMAS release too...it is better marketing for the HOLIDAYS...."it makes a great holiday gift" type sale pitch..

But it might come out as early as November...who knows?

I didn't say I knew better. I was simply making an educated guess based on the way DVDs have been released in the past.

Where in my post did i say it was comeing out at christmas?- i just said 'i guess'! as the other poster said it seems good marketing. JP2 just stated that it was November because thats 4 months after release -we al;l know thats far from always the case. i was merely asking what people thought

Speculated released date is Tuesday December 18, 2007. For all the obvious reasons, it will be a Christmas 2007 release.

No word yet on any of the extras, though Adam Shankman has confirmed that it will contain his audio commentary.

Don't expect 'deleted scenes' inclusion of "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now" or "The Big Dollhouse" as both songs/numbers were never filmed (nor included in the script). Same with a full-version of "It Takes Two". It was recorded in full for the soundtrack, but the song's tail-end appearance in the film is as it was intended. It was never filmed as a full number.

NOTE: yes, Adam also confirmed that the song "I Can Wait" (sung by Tracy inside Penny's basement/shelter) which was filmed but left-out of the film will be included as a 'deleted scene'.

That is what I said^

"You're wrong. It will not come out Christmas. It will come out in November. You're wrong."

That's what you heard. ^

Im wondering if they will release 2 DVDs as with Dreamgirls! Was there a 'making of...!' TV special when the movie opened? i know you guys have a lot of these but UK TV dont realy bother with them sadly.

I expect Hairspray to play in theaters until sometime in October. November, if they're lucky. The DVD should be out not long after that.

The dates I'm thinking of are Novemeber 20th/27th, or December 3. Not only are these dates 4+ months after the film release, but it is just in time for Holiday season, like everyone is so keen on.

I don't know what world you guys live in, but in mine the Holiday commercials start the day after Halloween. And Thanksgiving is very much a Holiday as well. The ending of November is not that far fetched.

Dec. 19th is way to close to Christmas. Unless NL wants to appeal to the late shoppers, giving them only days in advance.

"No word yet on any of the extras, though Adam Shankman has confirmed that it will contain his audio commentary."

And Marc has confirmed that he and Scott were not asked to do one and that is shameful and the powers that be at New Line should know it. Those two are the glue that hold the whole thing together. But New Line is notorious for double dipping their titles with special special editions later to follow. I think there are currently 37 versions of "Lord Of The Rings" released so far.

First time poster here...

I read an interview with Shankman somewhere - I'll try to find the URL - where he mentions that there's going to be a 2 hour 'making-of' feature on th DVD and that he's viewed about 40 minutes of it thus far.

It's a shame that NL didn't ask Shaiman and Wittman to do a commentary because it would have been fascinating to hear what they had to say.

I hope they include a cast audio commentary with a least a few of the cast members.

This would be a fantastic holiday purchase and I'm sure NL wants to drum up some publicity for awards season.

I read in an interview that there will be a audio commentary by Adam, outtakes and behind the scenes (as part of the DVD extra's)...and the DVD will most likely come out on a Tuesday, like most things do...but we will just have to wait in and see, i think as soon as September hits, we will hear more about it.
