HAVANA MUSIC HALL pre-Broadway tryout

The 6-week out of town tryout of Havana Music Hall runs October 10 to November 18, 2018 at Coral Gables' Actors' Playhouse.

Currently, there is ample availability for all performances. Buy tickets here.

This is being advertised as their "pre-Broadway tryout" but no theatre or official dates have been announced.

Who's going?

do they even have a serious (not to mention capable) producer attached? that's the sine qua non of being a pre-Broadway tryout (not to mention having a theatre or dates lol).

I wonder if a producer or organization can be held accountable for announcing a pre-Broadway try out, unless they can prove it.

Can any show say it's pre Broadway out of wishful thinking?

to whom would they be accountable? Being Broadway bound is an aspiration for some, whether realistic or not. We don't censor aspirations. At least not yet. At least not of this sort.

Did you really need to have this explained to you?

It's a world premiere if you're producing it for its own benefit; it's a pilot production if you're producing it with the intent to use it as a jumping-off to bigger things. These phrases exist- we don't need to call it a "pre-Broadway tryout" if it's nothing of the sort.

It was a true question, love. Sorry to catch in the plenitude of your bitter queen days.

And accountable to the paying audience. If they use that phrase, it is because there are legitimate contracts in place, not because they would love to end up there.

I agree using the phrase is inappropriate to express aspiration. FWIW I also think "accountable" is inapporpriate to express your intention now that I understand it.

If the show is worthy, audiences could care less (even if they knew) about the immature early marketing. So the idea that (to pick the most extreme example) had Hamilton called itself Broadway bound before it was audiences would have punished it for that is, I think you would agree, far-fetched. Audiences go to see shows they think they will like and don't go to shows that they don't think they will like.
