As part of Disney's 20th Century Fox acquisition, it'll be available to stream starting 5/22. I know it has its haters, but nobody can sing those songs like Barbra does.

It has been on HBOGO for a while. It is in 4K and plays beautifully. A great one for big screen TV's and 5.1 and higher sound systems to show off!

Hmmm a movie - available most of the time on some channel or service. Doesn't seem to be much newsworthy. It's not a good movie either, and Barbra is terrible, but at least she is somewhat better than the disgusting mugging of Michael Crawford. Now if you said Bette Midlers performance was coming to TV, that would be interesting

The only song in the score that That Streisand Woman should be singing is "Ribbons Down My Back" and that song is performed by Mrs. Malloy ( whose singing was dubbed in the movie)

I loved that movie when I first saw it half a century ago, and I still love it. Barbra is a wonderful "Dolly" and she sings every song beautifully.

The best thing about that movie is the way Wall E utilizes it.
Otherwise man is it dull and man do I understand why it killed movie musicals for years

Yes, we've seen Minnie's skirt length change, Dolly paying for her ticket twice, putting her napkin on her lap, twice, and so forth.
All films, tv shows, and tv movies have continuity errors in them in terms of matching shots - going from a close up, to a medium shot, etc. That has nothing to do with the editing. The film editor on HD was William Reynolds, who was nominated for an Oscar on his editing of HD. He won Oscars for editing "The Sound of Music" and "The Sting.
Barbra is not wailing - she's singing.

I often fantasize about an alternate reality where Judy Garland played Dolly and Barbra played Irene.

Judy's rendition of it would have been incredible. Jerry Herman so wanted her to do the show on Broadway. Her track record was not good, and it was just too risky unfortunately. Even if the producers were to have gone ahead with it, she would have been uninsurable. Just too risky. She would have been fantastic.
