Do you think that this should've been given a chance on Broadway? Or should it just stay in community theatres? I think with extravagant sets, and if you take out some of the adult themes, it could have a nice life on Broadway as a family musical.

Our community theater did it and the show (minus the huge cast) turned out really cute! The show is adorable and so is the music! I played the character of UGLY, and the audience just fell in love with the characters and songs, and costumes! It is such a fun story if done right! I think it would have a realllly good chance! :)
I really truly enjoy this show. I did the Jr. Version of it last year, where I co-directed as well as chroeographed the show. I think this is a great musical, and that it would be a joy to see on Broadway....

HONK is a lovely show with a quiet message. The music is good and the characters are really well written. It is a much better show that THE LION KING, in my opinion. I have a very good friend who runs the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, and last season they did it and it was a huge hit! Broadway may be too jaded for something this gentle, and they would probably over produce it to where the message gets buried in sets and special effects. Trust the material. It is excellent!

i just saw a really great high school production of this show in the spring and I loved it...the costumes were especially amazing...and i really enjoyed the music...not sure how well it would do on Broadway, but I hope more community theaters take the opportunity to do the show...

I played The Cat in HONK! last year and had a blast playing the part! Hands down it is the best part in the show but then again, I am biased. I personally don't see it as a Broadway show however, I do think it could do well as a tour. The thing to remember about the show is that it really is geared a bit more towards adults than one might suspect. I have a hard time envisioning high schools and community theatres doing the show well (no offense) due to the elaborate sets, costumes and special effects the show requires. If the show did ever come to Broadway, I would hope that Barrett Foa would reprise his role of Ugly.

Well......It's a very cute show. I played Ugly in it over the summer. It was a theatre camp thing, so we did the junior version. It was only like, 20 random kids, so it sucked. I like the music a lot though. Raul as the cat would be amazing. I'm not sure how well it would do on Broadway...It's almost TOO family.
