HP 'magic' - spoilers huge

I put this in another thread because its a spoiler

 

is the invisibility cloak in the play?

 

and any description of how the magic is performed

Yes, although if I remember correctly, the invisibility cloak is not one of the major tricks. I think they just duck behind things and put it on, and they make some furniture move by itself to make it seem like there's an invisible person. Not one of the more impressive ones. Someone who has seen it more recently may go into better detail. 

I'd be happy to describe any of the other tricks if you truly do want the spoilers. 

The one that stumped me though: 

Did anyone catch how they make the scattered papers on Harry's desk form into a pile? It was one of those blink-and-you-miss-it moments, and unfortunately I blinked. I couldn't tell if the whole thing was a projection, or if they were all attached by a string that tightened and brought them together, or what.

The telephone booth is the most impressive trick of them all, in my opinion. It was jaw dropping.

Thats funny. I found the telephone booth to be the most obvious. That, the dementors and the fight with Malfoy were the few moments where I found fault in the otherwise brilliant production.

The telephone booth was easy enough to figure out but that’s the brilliance of the production. They aren’t trying to “trick” you like Ghost did. It’s just beautifully thrilling statecraft. It’s magical.

I understand how it's done, but it moved so fast it looked amazing; especially with several people in it. 

That's why I hated the video mapping of time going back and forth. It seemed out of place within the awesome theatrical stage craft.

List of magic tricks (I'm 99% sure that these are how these go):

• Hat: on wire
• Robes: quick change under hoodie
• Scorpius' pepper snack: he wears a steam machine behind his head so it looks like it comes from his ears
• Pile of papers: mechancial flipper (sorry, don't know the actual term but basically all the papers are connected... if you sit close enough, you heard the mechanics)
• Telephone: they carry the robe to the booth & the robe itself goes through the slot while the person goes underneath
• Harry & Ginny appear in bed: they're underneath and come through the panel when Hagrid puts the blanket on the bed
• Trolley Witch nails: comes out of her sleeves
• Polyjuice: the adults come up from trapdoors and come up behind the younger actors & take their spots
• Harry & Hermione being two places at once: Other actors stand in as hands while the H&H go around the backstage to enter through the opposite side
•  Time travel: video mapping
• Invisibility Cloak: the boys cover themselves and then go behind the black scrim. The furniture is moved around via magnets in the floor.
• Harry & Draco's fight: they have handles on their coats where stagehands in all black guide them through the fight (they have the black wall scrim so it's not as noticeable)
• Dementors' Kiss: for Ron & Hermione, they're attached via a cable; for Snape, he goes through a trapdoor
• Craig's death: a panel comes up for him to lean against thus creating his fall to be very slow
• Scorpius' torture: magnets on the floor allows him to be pushed/pulled without falling
• Harry's transfiguration: Voldemort comes through the trap door and then Harry comes back when he's leaning against the doorframe

Am I missing any?

You got most if not all of the ones I remember.

My favorite one is their depiction of time travel. I saw the play twice in London on separate trips and was always fascinated how the bars/stage looked like it was slightly moving back and forth during the time travel. Never knew how they did that!

It's not a trick but I'm fascinated about the setup of the water tank.
