Who do you think you are?! Someone of literacy?
Robert Taylor, I fully agree with your post (The one about how it would be the strongest Disney production to date, though I guess I agree with your most recent post as well.) I feel like Hunchback could be a brilliant show, and that's why I really hope it'll end up on Broadway. I think that a really amazing production of Hunchback could get both fantastic reviews and great reception from the public-- and I've always felt like it's an under-appreciated film. I just hope they don't lighten it up TOO much, or try to preserve the darkness of the Berlin production TOO much.

You know, I'd love to see Terrence Mann as Frollo...

AIDA managed to survive for a while with a tragic ending. I don't see why Hunchback couldn't with the dark subject matter (at least the movie) has.

I had the good fortune to see Hunchback in Berlin. It was a very powerful production. I think there are definitely areas for improvement, but they're staging / choreography and production issues all that seemed easily solved. I truly hope they bring Hunchback to Broadway.
One can only hope that this time, it's true!

Um, are we all forgetting that in Disney's 3rd trip to Broadway (AIDA for those of you who don't remember the order of the Disney shows), your two leads were having a secret affair? Same thing in Wicked.

Disney, kids can handle more than you think. Leave the show darker and closer to the original Victor Hugo work, but make it known that there are some departures from the film and that the show is darker than its source materials.

People will still go, especially if the sets and costumes from the German production can be replicated in any way.

I'd LOVE for this to really happen in any shape or form, Disney's version or not

Disney screwed up The Little Mermaid, Tarzan bombed & Mary Poppins isn't exactly perfect. They'd likely screw up Hunchback, too, unfortunately. Isn't there someone at Disney that can legitimately make Hunchback work on Broadway without screwing it up??
Honestly they could do some pretty amazing stuff with the sets and costumes. Visually it might be stunning but the book might me poorly written.
