Amber Grey got robbed this year when she wasn't nominated this year for Great Comet. When this transfers I hope she gets her chance finally. One of my favorite shows in New York, the music is marvelous and Rachel Chavkin is the best.
I'm hoping there's an earlier digital release date.

Yayyyyy!! I was honestly starting to think that with the upcoming production they just weren't going to release it. Count me as one for which this show was an absolute highlight of the year. I am bummed that it is missing songs, but that release just can't come soon enough. I've been itching to hear Patrick Page's "His Kiss, The Riot" again...

The more I look over the track list, the more disappointed it get about songs that I notice didn't make the cut. Really? No "How Long?" or "If It's True?" Those are kind of important parts of Act II. Ugh, I wish they would just release the whole thing digitally and not have to worry about fitting it on a disc. Of course, that being said I am still super grateful that we are getting more than the four song EP.

I haven't seen the show but I loved the 2010 album. Did they cut "how long" and "if it's true" from the musical or are they just not putting it on the cd?
It seems that it just won't be on the album, unless it's a mistake on Amazon, which I'm hoping is the case.

Some of my favorites are in the opening sequence and not all are present.
Any Way The Wind Blows
Road to Hell
Come Home With Me
Wedding Song
Living It Up On Top
I am hoping there is a complete version, ala Great Comet. Or as mentioned a digital version that is complete. I'd pay money to have an album for this show that includes the entire score. It just feels like based on the precedent unknowingly established by Comet, which was also developed by Chavkin, a sung-through show like this should have a complete recording.

They were in the show, just not on the album apparently. As I mentioned, strange tracks to cut as they are somewhat important parts of the second act of the show.

I asked Anais on Twitter about the track list and she had a very sweet response. After compiling the list above, I totally understand how they laid it out. Very well thought out to try to fit the new album on one CD and still get a majority of the new material in the world.
Me: Thrilled beyond belief! Will "Come Home With Me" or "Wedding Song" be on the [new] album? Noticed they weren't on Amazon's track list.
Anais: Sorry friend-- we had to keep this one to the length of a CD! Tough choices... we leaned toward new stuff (not on the studio record) and tried to feature every member of the beautiful cast and band! I hope you love it-- it was very thoroughly and lovingly made. <3
Me: I will definitely love it! EP was gorgeous. I'd even be first in line if y'all decided to do a deluxe or digital exclusive of everything from the show.
Anais: Oh you better believe I wanna someday
Me: Been following it's progress and look forward to a healthy future for your baby! Wish I could see it in Edmonton. Alas...

This is disappointing - Wedding Song is one of my all-time favorite songs! Why not a 2-disc set?

It's one of mine also, but IDK if Rhino/Warner were willing to produce and manufacture it as a 2 disc. At least we have the potential for a 2-disc/deluxe and Anais was more than willing to do one with the full score. At least the song exists on the original folk album. I did like the arrangement from the NYTW production, though.

Now available to preorder on iTunes with Road To Hell available instantly. Plus, includes samples of all of the tracks and I have to say that this sounds wonderfully produced for a live recording.

Yes!! Exciting that we finally have something.
Sad we won't have a full recording, but I can put together a custom Spotify playlist and get something close to it (Thanks to your help, Jacobsnchz!). Not to mention, when/if the show transfers to Broadway, there's no doubt we'll get a 2-disc studio recording.
Very nervous about the out of town tryout in Edmonton that's coming up. I hope they don't add too much and give it the Great Comet treatment. I love The Great Comet, and I think the Broadway version is it's best possible iteration... but production costs went way up. I don't want producers to think that Rachel Chavkin is a bad investment. I'm nervous that she'll get cornered with Julie Taymor.

I agree on all remarks. I do not want to wish ill on Once/Island but CITS would be a perfect theatre for this show. I saw that the recent New 42nd Street reading did have an "expanded" ensemble with an additional three people as Hades workers, but not much else is known unless someone were there.
Hopefully a 2-disc, also. However, I feel that the energy in the live tracks that have been released so far are a great representation of the show and the energy; closer to the actual experience than a potential studio recording. Comet's is very close as a studio recording; would've loved for that to have been live, too, but IMO it transferred well into the studio.
I rarely frequent Spotify, but would love for you to post a link once you get it together. Only thing I don't have that I listed is Mitchell's "xoa" album, which I'll get closer to time. Her "Any Way The Wind Blows" is great and I think would play well next to "Road To Hell" from the live album which is the available iTunes track.
I'm wondering, with so much music today either streamed or purchased from iTunes, why couldn't they have released the songs that didn't fit on the CD as digital only?
Yes, I know that producing those songs would cost something, but the entire show was recorded, so the songs exist. How much would it be to "clean them up" audio wise and release them?
I like the original concept album but I find the voices quirky. I enjoy the renditions on the live EP better, and it's great to hear the audience's reactions.
'When the Chips are Down' can now be heard/downloaded in various places. Here's the Spotify link: https://open.spotify.com/album/68GAQVXoONh9uxf3nEGveg

For those who saw the NYTW production, what was Damon Duanno like as Orpheus? He isn't doing very much for me on the EP songs and samples I've heard so far, but maybe he was great live. Or perhaps his (admittedly subjective) underwhelming-ness was a deliberate character choice.
'Promises' is now available too.

He was by far the weak link in the show for me when I saw it. To the point where I was a little disappointed when I found out he was in Beardo, but then he surprised me in that one. So maybe his performance in Hadestown was due to character choices, but it didn't really work for me.

Damon’s falsetto in Epic gives me chills. That song hasn’t been released yet tho.

I'm loving it so far, the quality is beautiful. I am still a little bummed that it isn't a full recording of the show, but I am so happy to have it.
This recording sounds so good and is so worth the wait. Damon's voice is heavenly.
