Hadestown - wait for next block of tickets or October?

I am planning a trip to NY because my 15 year old is begging to see Hadestown. I was initially planning to go over spring break in March but the last scheduled show date is January. Should I plan to wait until they release the next block of shows or should I book for October when she has a few days off of school? I'm worried pricing might go up since it won so many Tony's! Also, she kind of wanted to see the original cast and they may change for the next round.

I think you should be fine for Oct. it’s before the holidays. Have you looked at the current prices? I know Ticketmaster does dynamic pricing so they can fluctuate.

I don’t know how long the original cast will stay but most stay for a year. Not sure if your 15 yo may care about that or not but something to consider.

Yes, actually she does care. She has mentioned a few times that if we wait until March it may be a new cast. That didn't seem important to me but it is to her.

I think your fine with either- but I think prices may trickle down a little by March since they are astronomically high post-tonys right now. I would guess if you by in Oct/Nov for March you'll save a good $40/50 per ticket.

and principal contracts are almost always 1 year of that (especially in a show like this with Bway names, not celebrity names), so you should be fine either.

I bought tickets before the tony Nominations for $109 rear mezz, and we loved it and wanted to go back. I was tracking stubhub and was able to snag a pair of rear side orchestra for $71.99 on stubhub (plus their 30% fees) but still way under value. That was this last Saturday night. Sunday at 3pm they went for even cheaper. Now the only thing I would say is I have a real tolerance for buying last minute. Literally. I bought 9 mins to showtime (was making sure they were mobile entry seats with instant delivery.) There was still a lot of inventory left hence why I was prepared to wait fr scalpers to drop. One person left it too late as there were literally 8 unsold seats in row Q side orchestra that didn't sell on stubhub. At the interval the lucky people in SRO got moved to those seats for the second half!

anyway my point is if you're willing to take a punt and keep hitting refresh you can get an excellent deal for Hadestown!

That advice does the OP no giod as the entire purpose OF the trip us to see the show, so why would they want to risk it? That kind of info is only good for those that live in tbe city or are there often, so not seeing the show is no big deal.

To the op....I agree w/broadway123...it shouldnt matter. I dont think we'll another price increase for the show that usually happens immediately after winning. And it is HIGHLY unlikely any of the cast will depart before April.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The only cast member I would have concerns about is Andre De Shields, who is the heart of the show. I have no idea how long he is contracted for, but he's not young.

I’d actually be worried about Eva. I’ve heard through the grapevine she will be the first to go and it will not be in a year.

I respectfully disagree. I saw the prices drop to below face value levels basically every day we were in NYC for (which was 7). How much below face value depends on your tolerance for waiting until the last minute. But final hour most days you could get something reasonable. So unless you are only in NYC for 1 or 2 days your chances are incredibly high.

FYI, any year-long contracts of the original cast will most likely end on 3/22/20.

Apparently the code is only good for two tickets and is unique.

I picked up a set of tickets rear mezz center for $99 plus fees per ticket. Not terrible.

FYI, I’ve seen the show at NYTW, in London and on Broadway - Mezz is the way to go for anyone wondering!
