It's their font from any fake internal advertisement. Stock 60's font. Well, not stock, but period specific.
ohhh got ya. "log" "powdered toast man" etc
Looks like something my little brother could make on word. does not look very pretty, and it doesn't get all hyped for the movie.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu
I think they will change it. Its probably just a place holder logo.
-we hope.
Well, if the colors in the logo seem muted, it's probably because the pictures of the actual film look bland and colorless. The colors in all the pics i've seen of the film look bland compared to the Broadway production. I'm not saying this is wrong, and in fact, it's probably more historically accurate, but if the colors in the movie look bland, why shouldn't the colors in the logo?
I dont mind muted colors... in fact I really like them- and I think it will work well with this movie.
Especially the color palette used here:
But I dont find this font great in keeping with the rest of the movie. I also wouldnt really describe these colors as that muted, in fact I dont even like this color palette. Orange? Lavendar? Green? Dark blue?:
I think I am far too opinionated, especially over something as trivial as a logo.

I don't know, I don't think that the logo is that awful. Granted it's nothing great either. It's looks really average, and it looks like they didn't put much thought into making it.
well, i may be in the minority but i think its a huge improvement over the previous logo. The previous one looked sloppy- the shapes behind the letters didnt look deliberate, the font wasnt crisp and the starry shapes reminded me more of the jetsons than anything else. This new logo looks much more polished and appropriate.
hmm...why don't they just use the one from the stage production?
it would be better if the letters were not stuck together
It reminds me of a roll of lifesavers.

Probably so as not confuse audiences whether or not they are seeing the stage show or the film (on billboard and poster ads, anyway). Personally, I could care less about the logo.
ILoveMyDictionary-
Haha - I agree.
I think it is just hard to come up with a logo better than the Broadway one. Oh well...
The Broadway design was a true advertising and merchandising logo -- this appears to be nothing more than a place-holder on the website. I think it is a deliberate choice not to move into high gear this far from the film's completion and release. I'm sure the final logo will feature more than just lettering.
And not to threadjack, but does the Dreamgirls logo strike anyone else as "Jersey Boys, but with women, and focusing at butt level"?

God, it really does look like a cartoon.
I am so scared of this movie. I know it's going to be crap. I just know it.
have a lil faith. gee.
I like it. It's better than the other one posted earlier. If you look at the few production photos, most of the colors are muted, so it fits. And it's a hell of a lot better than the dreamgirls logo.
They already had a new logo. That could have been the placeholder, but instead, they changed it to this.
That tells me that there was a design meeting and this was the chosen theme to go with. Whether they will change it again due to negative feedback or not remains to be seen.
But I doubt this was intended to be another "placeholder."

Capn- you are right.
This is indeed the new logo.
Who knows if they will find they need to change it.. but for the time being- its this logo.
I am sure it will grow on me.
Why can't they just use Nikki like they did Marissa and use the similar logo as to the show.
or do they not feel like paying Nikki what they pay Marissa when the logo is used?
I think when its isolated on that page with the one background it doesn't look very colorful, but when you clipped it out and placed it in a regular situation the colors were a lot brighter. It's not horrendous, but not the GREATEST LOGO EVER MADE or anything.
