When does Hairspray on Ice come out?

I am so happy about the movie, but to tell the truth I am even more excited about the eventual DVD !!! Being able to watch the fabulousness that is HAIRSPRAY anytime you want, is pure Heaven !! I sooo wish they relese a Double disk, FULL of extras and hopefully a 2-hour documentary, focusing also on the Broadway show that started it all !

ditto!

I think I should do a dvd commentary. It would just be me singing and quoting the whole movie. :)

(on the 'School of Rock' DVD commentary with the kids, thats all they do- it's pretty funny)

But seriously. when I came out of seeing the movie, I wanted the dvd right there and then.

Just wondering, since you saw the FULL movie - how is Amanda's singing? I've heard little snippets of practically everyone but her!

The movie- great. My review- I think its just ok.

It's hard to write a review of any length that's basically:

"IIIIII REEEEEEEAAAAALLLLLYYY LOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEED IIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!"

but like even longer. :)

also- I tried not to give away too much, yet still have something to say.

Expect it in the next few days.

Yes - I saw it there too - but when you click on it to buy, it says status has changed and it is no longer available.

The same thing happened to the new Angela Lansbury collection - two days after they released it - they removed all of the availability from the british stuff that was listed. Basically - the songs from Gypsy.

" found Oprah's comment "Can you believe it? 11 months ago, she used to work at an ice cream shop and now she is starring a film" very offensive."

Someone is apparently affended WAY TOO easily. Ridiculous. I work at a fast food place. Woop woop. The girl went from high school minimum wage income to suddenly being part of a million dollar project. Sounds like a pretty big deal to me! If it happened to you or anyone else on this board you canNOT tell me you wouldn't have a moment to sit back and say "I can't believe it!" Shame on Oprah for stating the obvious. I still am completely confused at how you could be offended by that. Landing a lead role in a major Hollywood film IS a big deal.

And to whoever said the actors on Oprah had no enthusiasm... WHAT? Did you SEE the girl who has the lead? She was so excited she could hardly sit still in that chair. I've never seen such a huge smile! John Travolta was dancing about teaching Oprah some coreography for geez sake! Queen Latifah was cracking laughs left and right. Sounds awful dull to me... ??? (Okay, granted Michelle Pfeiffer was a bit dead...)

Anyway... my two cents.

Too bad. 'cos he's brilliant in this- and just about everything he does.

eventhough I hate saying this I must, John Travolta looks and sounds completely horrible in Hairspray, he was a stupid choice. However James Marsden and Zack Efron sound and look so much better then I expected and best of all Michelle Pfieffer is tearing it up in those clips, she is gonna kick ass. I can't wait to see it.

I realy want to see this movie but I thought the Oprah show wasn't very good. Maybe because John Travolta isn't one of my favorite actors. I hope when I see the movie I forget that he's in it.

Well, this sucks.

As soon as it came on TV my cable went out because of the weather.

And I tried looking for the encore showing...but did not find it.

I do have to admit to being quite disappointed with the clip of "Welcome to the 60's" upon first viewing, but watching it again...it's sheer perfection. The subtle approach suits the atmosphere of where Edna is singing it -- nice and soft-spoken instead of loud and boisterous ala Harvey (who is supposed to be singing it out on the streets). Plus, John as Edna is adorable! John's Edna is quite the looker whereas Harvey's was more the matronly-type (ala...not a pretty mamma).

Watching the same clips a 2nd time added a different appreciation to them. I feel this film will bring in a 2nd viewing audience (hopefully).
