re: Hairspray on Oprah...

As much as I loved this show on stage, the clips look a little too slick and cutesy and I am just not buying Travolta, as I said before he looks like a grown up cabbage patch kid come to frightening life.
PEACE.

re: Hairspray on Oprah...

It looks like it has turned into the kind of movie that John Waters was trying to spoof in the first place.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." The Nanny Diaries

Can't wait for the show.

re: Hairspray on Oprah...

Sueleen, I have to agree. Travolta looks like a Garbage Pail Kid. He doesn't look very warm or nurturing as a mom/woman. Maybe his performance will counteract his scary appearance.
