OP, can you please post a link to where you saw that information? I'd like to get info for the ticket prices etc. Thanks!

The OBC will be long gone and the Chicago and San Francisco shows will be up and running. I mean I have no doubt they'll sell out, but I just don't think you're going to see resale tickets at 8 to 10 times the face value."
Even if they only sell for twice their face value, that's still a 100% profit. More than enough incentive for the scalpers. Guess we'll see what happens!

For some yeah. But I doubt you'll see as many take the risk. Dropping $1k with the ability to make $6k or $7k is worth it. Dropping $1k to make $1500 or $2k and maybe having to eat the tickets may not be worth it. At the matinee yesterday there were two open seats in the third row that I'm sure some scalper ate the cost of

If you go to the Hamilton Ticketmaster page and select any of the performance dates on or following January 31, 2017, that information will pop up.

The last time they put tickets up for sale the surprise 9PM thing for Nov-Jan.. I had no issues getting great seats for Thanksgiving weekend.
^^^ That was a special occasion where producers sold the tickets they had clawed back from scalpers. There was no notice for that. I went online about an hour and a half after the release, and I could find no tickets.
I'm dubbing this the Pre-Sale for Millionaires. The real Alexander Hamilton would be proud.

I have found it helpful in the past to have ticketmaster up on both my computer and my phone when attempting a time-sensitive purchase. Sometimes one will freeze up while the other continues to work. The phone app has bailed me out more than once.

Prices have shot up since LMM has announced his exit date. Some are going for 9 grand on StubHub until his exit date.
"I am really surprised that the producers agreed to this."
To get as much money as they possibly can? That's what they do, and this is a goldmine, and they are just capitalizing on it.
I think that prices will go down after most of the principals leave. It won't be worth as much without the OBC in my opinion.

LMM has not announced his exit date.

I read the interview and no date was given.

Sorry in the Hollywod Reporter. I don't know how to attach a link on here but you can do a google search 'Lin Manuel Miranda Hamilton last day'

Don't mind gypsy. He's just being a schmuck because the exit date was implied, never announced nor confirmed. You are correct, though. It will, in fact, be July 9th but to be clear, LMM never stated that. It's all semantics in my mind.
LMM may not have formally announced it, but he hasn't denied it either. Heck it was on ABC News for gosh sakes, and you'd think he'd deny if it wasn't true. The silence is confirmation IMO.

I don't know, maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part but I somehow doubt the tickets will sell out during the presale. I mean not just anybody can get an Amex Platinum, and that one's easier to get than an Amex Centurion (which I don't even think can be applied for). Plus the fact there's a four ticket limit for the presale. We'll see though.
I didn't think I was being a schmuck, but I guess technically I was using semantics. People keep saying Miranda has confirmed it when the fact remains he hasn't. I don't doubt that July 9th is his last date, but it would be nice to have confirmation from an official source.

In the PR world, a non-response (different from "no comment" or no denial is considered confirmation...
At this point I'm asking myself if it might be better to see the show in Chicago than NYC. Which version will have better casting? Hmmm...

Wherever you can get tix! I'm done watching the show in NYC (I've seen it 3x). I plan to watch in Chicago and then in Iowa (tour is making a stop in the 2017-18 season)

The original Broadway cast is always the best. Out of all the people who auditioned in the world, those people were determined the best of the best. I have no doubt Hamilton in Chicago will be great, but the best cast is always the Broadway one. Touring casts never compare to the OBC either.
I'm sorry but I think it is just repugnantt the new block of tickets go on sale during the Tony awards. All it does is prove that the show's producers think it is better than Broadway as a whole.

I agree - that is a special kind of chutzpah.
I do think, though, that not allowing the garden-variety Amex (like I have!) to participate in the presale this time around will mean more tickets for the general public. If they don't mind DVR-ing the Tony Awards instead of watching live.
Pretty creepy, IMO.

Agreed, but by the time I see the show next May (if I get Bway tickets), the OBC will be long gone, and what I'm wondering is: will the really good replacements be heading to Chicago because it's the first version outside of Broadway, or will they stay in NYC?
The only way to avoid scalping is replacing the print at home option with the QR code, like the Yankees have installed. Otherwise, the whole Amex pre sale is really just the producers being greedy and making sure those with the most money can get the best tickets and keep those per ticket average high.

No it doesn't. It just means that they are milking the moment. Perhaps the thinking is that many people will have heightened awareness of Hamilton on Tony night for all the reasons they will...I mean, we don't think they need the publicity but I guess the producers believe there is never too much publicity! And how great for the show if it 'sells out' again very quickly. That's what they'd like.
THEN they will officially announce the cast changes..;o)
