There are plenty of people annoyed.  But I'm not sure what anyone's ire is going to do. I'm not even sure why or if anyone should be "angry".  What's the point?

People whined they thought it was wrong to release them at the begining of the Tonys, they changed that - so now you want us to be up in arms about that too?

It's silly.  Buy tickets, don't buy tickets.  Your choice.  I choose not to get worked up over things I have no control.

Nope. Couldn't care less when any show puts their tickets on sale, it's their right to choose.

What are you talking about? Plenty of people are angry. And what's the basis for saying people would react differently if it were any other show? If anything, people love finding opportunities to take down HAMILTON and this is the new cool thing about it to dislike. I think the uproar is pretty silly, especially since it seems that only a handful of people are able to look for tickets and watch the Tonys at the same time.

The original Broadway cast is always the best.  Out of all the people who auditioned in the world, those people were determined the best of the best.  I have no doubt Hamilton in Chicago will be great, but the best cast is always the Broadway one.  Touring casts never compare to the OBC either.

You must be very young to have this perception. Broadway musicals have a very long history of having replacement casts of the highest caliber. As improbable as it may seem to you, this show will have future performers giving much better performances than the OBC.

A lot of fans have a special attachment to original casts, but that doesn't make them 'best'.

Okay, I love this show and cast as much as the next poster...so much so that I am almost caught up in the hysteria of buying some insanely priced "one last time" ticket. But sanity prevails.

If anyone watched the boring Charlie Rose show when he interviewed a group of cast members together (Renee, Daveed, Leslie, PHillippa, I forget who else)-I think it was on this show, where Renee said - and I don't think it was false modesty - that one of the great things about being the 'first' in the role was that everyone thinks you are so great...but then 10 yrs later when they've seen several others perform the same role, they realize lots of people can do it.

Now, I paraphrase but this was basically what she said. I am sure she was being modest, humble, and down to earth - which is frankly how she impressed me generally BUT I still believe there to be an element of truth to what she says. And she's a performer/singer/actress. She knows what's out there. She knows her competition. She didn't come to this work yesterday.

DAveed also said on another show - someone else also posted this - that he was not by any means special as a rapper that he could speak lines/words so rapidly.  W

Yeah, it was on the Jimmy Fallon show I think. He said that 'Guns and Ships' is considered kinda medium-fast in rap circles, and not particularly impressive.  He then did a rap that was MUCH faster. It only seems fast in the show because it's not something you see a lot in musicals.

Of course, Gilbert and Sullivan did that sort of thing in their operettas all the time, only they called them patter songs. (not quite as fast, although I've heard a few 'I am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General's that sounded close!).

One thing though is that the OBC cast was with it from the beginning and at the beginning it wasn't the phenomenon it is now.  There weren't necessarily people auditioning from all over the world -- but now there sure will be.  So I'm hoping that the Chicago cast (and the replacement NYC cast) will actually be amazing in their own way.  (Groff was not even original and while it's a minor role he certainly was amazing.)

(@sarahb22 I have the same question.  Chicago is closer so I'm leaning that way... but still nervous about whether I'll be able to get tickets for that, either.)

I have an AmEx Platinum card...but it's an AmEx Platinum Skymiles Card.  Can it be any ole platinum card or is there a specific kind?
....before I try and get somebody on the phone for a code that they know nothing about...

Sounds like a platinum card to me… It's certainly not a gold card or one of the green card so you must be fine...feel free to buy an extra seat or two and I will happily pay for them… Best of luck!

It is only the AmEx Platinum (and the Centurion), not the "platinum" version of an AmEx card.

Pretty sure not. I think the Delta version doesn't qualify (if it makes any sense, it's a Platinum Delta card issued by Amex, not a Platinum Amex card). The details of these types of offers usually explicitly exclude them. Check the terms.

It looks like the presale time has been pushed back to 11:10 PM EDT right AFTER the awards. Seems a little smarter, but will make it even more difficult.

Miatamel, call Amex to see if you can get the 14-digit code you would need for the purchase. If you get a code, go for it! It's apparently being generated for each person.

Yes. A unique code has been generated tied to the specific card.    I received an email yesterday with a code specifically for my card ending in -Xxx.

I do hope these steps and restrictions will help curtail much of the illegal scalping activity.

The "miles" cards often don't qualify.  My Skymiles Gold card didn't work last time there when it was an "Amex Gold" presale.

Yes, which has been stated here several times, including only four posts above yours.

I too have had problems with Ticketmaster's website during the last release of Hamilton tickets, but as far as I know the mobile app does not allow you to really pick your own seats. Is there any way to pick where you want to sit or does the app only suggest its best available seats per section?

then don't use the app. go on the website through your phone.

Presale just went live, and I'm seeing that most of the orchestra seats are $849 per ticket. Holy sh*t.

$849 A TICKET? Are you FREKIN kidding me?  Is today APRIL FOOLS?  Even if it was the ORIGINAL CAST that is WAY overpriced!

Besides the $849, there are a number of good seats in the rear and front mezz between $179 and $199...

The entire front row of the rear mezzo was available.

Also, there are plenty of tickets being held back for the general onsale.

What happened to regular priced tickets for this??
I might as well go ahead and pay scalpers for fall if Sunday's night sale will be like this for spring!
I'm a newbie and just doing this for my kid but why on earth are the prices like that, non scalped?

1. don't automatically believe everything you read.

2. since tix are being held for regular release, I suspect (hope?) more of those will be regular priced.

3.  Wouldn't you RATHER pay the creator's over opportunists?  (I would, but I'm never going to spend that kind of money to anyone.)
