There were some really fun videos posted by Broadway World and other outlets of the performance tonight and the party after. Seems like it would have been quite the fun place to be!

What happened with the little people on the street? Did they partake in the party? Or did they just stare at the theater all lit up?
10 years already. I moved to NYC in 2015 weeks before this started previews (I’ve since moved to coastal Laguna Beach, CA but still have my apartment in NYC). I had a friend in the HAMILTON ensemble so I was able to get his house tickets (only had to pay his cost: $150 - Orchestra Center, Row H). My head exploded when I learned what others were paying weeks later. Anyway, hated the show and still do. Loved IN THE HEIGHTS and saw it a handful of times, but HAMILTON just didn’t spark for me. Tried to watch the Disney+ film and stopped 5 minutes in. It was baffling watching the mass hysteria the musical created plus all the praise it was receiving from everyone. Oh, well.

I agree with Brody on this one. This show is the emperor’s new clothes and a prime example of how people none the wiser will revere something just because everyone else is revering it.
I’m getting overkill deja vu with all the videos and memories and articles. It was overhyped ten years ago and it’s overhyped today. It’s brilliant, yes. But it’s not good. The only reason people think it’s important is because Lin et al keep telling us it’s important. Give us a chance to learn it’s special for ourselves instead of grinning and watching while we sleep and waiting for us to wake up!
In The Heights, meanwhile, is infinitely better and should still be running. It has the heart that Hamilton never could because there’s too much “agenda” in it. That’s not Hamilton’s fault. It’s inherently about agenda. It has brains and wit of course, but too much of it. I never needed to see it a second time and similarly turned off the filmed version very quickly. Whereas In The Heihhts… I was blown away the first time and went back twice more, always discovering more of its layering, and feeling more deeply.
Okay, release the hounds.

That’s not why I was calling him a clown. I also love how he loves Evita but hates Hamilton
