Yep. I know but I hear it's impossible to see anything from up there.

^Not true. You absolutely see from up there, but you will be very high up. I've sat up there for Wicked and sat center of the amphitheater and had no trouble seeing whatsoever. Did things seem incredibly far away? Yes, but you know that when you buy for seating up there.
There are limited and obstructed view seats up there just like in any section of the Academy of Music, but you can absolutely see from the amphitheater. You get what you pay for.

The amphitheater is very high up. You can see perfectly but you’re high up.
There are ground floor partial view seats for $79.
Some are not partial at all if you lean a bit to the side.
The Academy is a beautiful venue but sucks for Broadway shows, imo.

I love the Academy and have seen many shows there and I honestly think it comes down to what the show is and where you sit. I've sat all over the place and I've found my personal sweet spots of where I liked to sit depending on what the show is. I generally prefer to be in the Parquet Circle or Balcony on the sides to be closer to the stage and to better see details or facial expressions but have sat in the more center areas too.
For bigger shows like Hamilton, Wicked, etc - you can get away with being a little further away or more center and still enjoy it or for a smaller scale show or if you're someone like me who likes seeing the actors a bit closer you can sit at a slight angle and get that closer vantage point. The Academy is kind of a puzzle, but once you figure it out and how to make it work for you, it's generally smooth sailing.

So, unless something happens at the last minute, Hamilton is finally coming to Jacksonville starting Wednesday. I have a two year plus old ticket for Thursday night, second orchestra. They have a matinee that day, which for some reason isn't selling well at all. They dropped the prices in the second orchestra to $49. I jumped on it since it is a little better seat than my evening performance. So I am now seeing it twice on Thursday. I just couldn't let that $49 price slip by. (I have only seen it once prior. High in the balcony in Orlando)

Enjoy! Hamilton is my favorite musical.
I actually bought a ticket today to see the touring production of My Fair Lady here in Oklahoma City on Saturday evening. It’s our first touring show since before the pandemic.
MFL wasn’t my favorite thing I ever saw on Broadway (I saw the latest revival), but I’m excited (and a little nervous). I decided to take the chance since they’re requiring vaccination proof for everyone except 12 and under or those with medical reasons/religious reasons who have to provide a negative test result (within 72 hrs prior), mask requirement, plus Touchless entry with Mobile Tickets & The Civic Center has modified their HVAC system to include MERV-13 filtration, increased outside air intake and disinfection of airflow.
I’m sitting second row front row orchestra!

My last touring show was Bandstand, February 2020. It would have been Mean Girls, February 2020, but had to cancel due to unexpected skin cancer treatment. My last Broadway show was Slave Play, September 2019. However, November 2021, I am seeing Diana, Caroline Or Change and Doubtfire.

My last tour was Once On This Island in Hershey, PA on Dec 07, 2019 (661 days ago).
Last off-Broadway show was Little Shop of Horrors on Feb 01, 2020 (605 days ago)
Last Broadway show was Hadestown on Feb 8, 2020 (598 days ago)

My next Broadway show is hopefully Nov 13, 2021 but that may change. If I don’t get there in November, I probably won’t get to NYC until April or May of next year.
My next tour might be Hamilton sometime in October since it’s coming to Philly. But we’re actually planning to seeing the Hadestown tour (Feb) and Oklahoma tour (March) in Philly in 2022.
Speaking of the Hamilton tour, thank you for the FYI about the ticket price drop. If tickets dropped to that in the orch we might actually go for it.

So I saw the matinee and evening performance today. This cast is fantastic. I asked a souvenir employee which tour this was. She stated "Phillip". Hopefully she was right. So if you get this tour to your city, buy a ticket.

I can't get excited by this show. I'm not saying it's bad, but just production wise it's nothing interesting. It's the same set, etc. I saw the Disney+ and I'm fine with it. That's my problem with these off-Broadway/non-profit shows moving to Broadway. Like, you designed the show with the confines of these smaller spaces, and now we are paying MORE, but getting less. Dear Evan Hansen's orchestra is fully in a loft for no reason. There is an orchestra pit. Stupid.

ArtMan - Is this the cast you saw? If so, you did see the “Philip” cast! We also got the Philip cast here in 2019 when I saw it twice and while of course there’s been some changes, I’m glad to see some of the cast are still around. Glad you had a great time! It’s my favorite musical and I can’t wait to return to it one day.

Yes, according to those pictures it was the "Phillip" cast. They were terrific. I ended up liking the matinee performance better. I was a few rows closer and on the aisle. Plus all performers were in. I did not receive a playbill or look at board. I knew when the Aaron Burr actor sang his first note he was the understudy. He was really good, but preferred Jared Dixon.

@ArtMan, which Burr understudy did you see? Thanks.

Dottie, I'm not sure. I did not take a playbill since I had one from the matinee. When I looked on the board at intermission it was someone with three names. It was not the actor who is in the cast photo understudying Burr that Miles sent. From where I was sitting, which was second orchestra, the actor appeared to be Latino, not African American. Very handsome and had his hair in a bun. He sang very well, but since I saw Jared Dixon at the matinee, I am unfortunately making a comparison. The three names I saw also reflected a Latino background.

It might have been Blaine Alden Krauss. I like his voice.

You might be correct. I looked at his picture. I'm pretty sure the actor, last night, had a goatee or some sort of facial hair. He had a bun. Of course, his name isn't close to be Latino. So I'm confused on that one. But most definitely the actor had three names, he sang very well and even at about 22 rows or more back, he was very handsome.

Yes, looking at his Instagram, that Miles mentioned, I'm pretty sure it was him. I don't know where I got a Latino name. I looked at the board fast so I could get in the bathroom line. I enjoyed both performances compared to when I saw it the first time in the balcony. Last year, I found the cd in a thrift store for a $1 and listened to it multiple times. Knowing the music and a better understanding of the book, made it a greater experience. The show really has some beautiful music, in my opinion.

Hi, Wanted to tell you, that I received an email (actually 2) from Lucky Seat telling me as a nonlottery winner, I am eligible for $49 ticket for the rest of the run, which includes ORCHESTRA. I'm really surprised, they included those seats. The $49 ticket I mentioned before, that I bought, was second orchestra. I'm kind of Hamilton out, seeing it twice last week. But to be that close, who knows I might purchase one.

Why don’t you just enter the lottery yourself and lose? You’ll get your own code

Apparently the next drawing is this coming Thursday and I’ll be in Jacksonville area on Thursday. Chances that I might get a ticket the same day as the performance are very low. So that’s why I politely asked for the code.

Tito3, It wasn't a code....it was a link. Once I clicked on it, it opened up the $49 seats for all of the remaining performances. Not sure if you would have been able to use the link, but I already deleted it. I ended up buying a ticket for this Sunday night. I got eighth row from the stage. I figured when am I ever going to get that good a seat for that price. Check on Thursday's performance, they are selling the last row of second orchestra handicapped seats for $49. At both performances I attended. no one sitting in handicapped...were handicapped. Friday night's performance has one ticket in row NN for $49. I sat in second orchestra for the matinee and evening performance last Thursday. It really was a great seat., compared to my $200 balcony seat the first time I saw it. The matinee was my $49 seat and the evening (3 rows behind) was my old subscription seat.
