Hopefully some of the original stars will cross the pond for this. As I've stated elsewhere, I'm not sure the British will have long term interest in the history lesson at the heart of the story, but certainly having the original cast open the show would help make it a must see event.

I wouldn't call the history lesson at the heart of the show the reason for its popularity anyway. Its the craftsmanship behind the history lesson.

Cupid -- I would say its a combination of the superior craft in the storytelling AND that the piece has its finger on the American pulse at the moment. Just look at what is going on with your current elections and social climate. There are a lot of US citizens who feel disgruntled with government and want major fundamental change; there are a lot of minorities arguing that they aren't being given a proper 'shot' (the lyrics to the opening number).
Like all huge hit shows, the musical's success is a combination of elements that will either translate to other cultures or won't. It will be interesting to see...

I think if it does go to West End, the prices will be lower than Broadway's. As for the cast, I think it can be a different cast and still be amazing. That's just how good this show is. People come to see the show, not necessarily a big name performer.

When an article like this emerges, the key phrase is "plans to." Take everything relating to this with a grain of salt until it's confirmed.

QueenAlice, it's most definitely fair to draw those comparisons, but I still contend it's not what's drawing the majority of the individuals who get to see this show to the theatre. The bulk of the patrons getting into the Rodgers are incredibly well-off. They don't share the same outlook as the disgruntled and the oppressed. The individuals for whom the themes of Hamilton would resonate the most don't have upwards of several thousand dollars to be spending on a musical.

Wick3 -- I agree with that, but having some members of the original cast would be an added selling point. I would be surprised if Lin didn't go over to open the production - even if just for a very limited engagement.

The cast of "In the Heights" in the West End is pretty terrific. I'm sure there are numerous members of that cast who will be looked at.

1. There is no doubt the show will go to the west end. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.
2. LMM has said he would love to go, which of course is not a guarantee.
3. From my travels over the last months, the interest and demand for this show in London is extraordinarily high. Sadly, British theatre-goers seem to know as much or more about the founding of our nation as we do.

price in London will be significantly lower than Broadway or it won't stay open. Not a single west end show seat is sold for 200£, let alone 1000.

^to be fair the prices exceeding 200 dollars are coming from the resale and scalper tickets. Not from the production itself. So if demand is high in London the scalpers could be selling tickets with prices similar to the Broadway show.

I can't predict the future, but all west end tickets are not resalable or refundable, so at least you won't find resale on the official website like happens foe the Broadway production. I really can't see it becoming as successesful as it is on Broadway, but I'm sure it will become a solid show like book of Mormon did when it opened in London.

I agree as well. I hope Lin will make it across the pond. I also hope Renee Elise Goldberry will be in it. When I saw Hamilton back in November, Leslie Odom Jr was out but thankfully Renee was there. To me, Renee's a one-of-a-kind.
