I'm also an asian-american theatergoer, and I find phillypinto's statements to be so offensive to people of any minority. People of all ethnicities and walks of line can love theater. Philly, please educate yourself and refrain from saying so many offensive things.
To answer the original question, a few weeks ago I was able to get rear mezzanine tickets for the prime holiday week after Christmas for $57 at the box office. Seems that they should be perfectly good seats for that show.
To comment on the issue of income equality, perhaps many of the people Pinto is referring to just don't share the same theater taste as he does. I can remember several instances of going to In The Heights, The Color Purple, A Raisin in the Sun, etc, that offer stories that resonate with different people and seeing a much more diverse crowd. As someone before said, the prices for entertainment are sky high everywhere, not just Broadway. People are just more selective with what they spend their hard earned $ on. Pinto, don't assume that shows you like would be shows that everyone else would enjoy.

I am not white and I have my tix for Hamilton for Jan. Philly I am usually not easily offended by anything you post but man that post was just offensive.

"Im not a middler schooler, and i certainly won't be seeing Hamilton any time soon especially if tickets are at that price. I bet they won't even do rush. How do they expect blacks and hispanics to see the show at those prices? Its honestly ridiculous, and i really hope theres backlash"
There will be lotto.
But also...WHAT?! How is making a comment like that even remotely acceptable?

""Its a fact that blacks and hispanics don't have as much money as white people do in this world."
"
Jordan, that was exactly the same thought I had.

Philly - you are a complete and total asshole. Seriously.
As someone who has posted about my issues with the ridiculous Hamilton prices - I was actually able to get two tickets in row L of the orchestra, seats 9 and 11 for a date in March (Yes, March. lol. So far away!) While I paid $167, they should be really great seats; I realize they have very little leg room but, I think the view will be worth it! I couldn't justify spending $167 for seats in the rear orchestra or the front of the rear mezzanine, which is what I mentioned previously, because I knew other seats with a much better view were selling for the same exact price (as, I luckily obtained), so I'm really glad I was able to find these.

While it is not at all shocking, a piece of my dog's **** has more class than Philly.
Why are you still here? Just go.
"He didn't mean it."
Oh, please. He gets off on saying stuff like this. That's his total BWW history thus far: whether it be about bisexuality not existing, making totally baseless assertions about the success of shows, or even just saying he's so incredibly talented.
His mouth constantly has his foot in it, and he'll defend to the death his belief it's not.

Reading this thread today I realized from here on out I will always think of muscle23ftl as RoxyJr. "It was mediocre. It was boring." All the critical acumen of a third grader and a protector of the indefensible.
I saw it for ninety bucks downtown. Even if Lin revises stuff, I wasn't planning on going back for a while. All I want is a damn cast album!
Trying to ignore the controversy, but the popcorn tastes delicious, so thanks!
I have loved every second of this thread. Thank you for making my Tuesday.
I saw a black just now at the Fun Home box office and felt bad that she would never be able to afford such a good show.
I hear the Latino actors in FUN HOME may have to quit cause they can't afford to be in it.
And who do you think is responsible for dusting all those antiques?
I stand by what i said. You guys are the problem with this country
"Also, Jordan, I think you meant "it", not "she". As Pinto has pointed out, they're not really people..."
where did you read that? makin things up?
I'm still devastated you announced being from New Jersey. My home state has been through enough.
I blame Liza. She made us pay $25 to see her in THE ACT. I'll never forget the reaction: "Twenty-five dollars?! I mean, Liza! But even so!"
Notice how not as many people attacked me for this. Clearly, people agree with me and just didn't want to defend me because they don't feel like getting attacked
If you really want to see how well Hamilton is "selling out", you have to check on StubHub. HUNDREDS of tickets available for most performances.
some of those tickets are going for over 2,000...damn
