The Hamilton tour has posted pictures of their first day of rehearsal yesterday.
From the limited view out the window, it looks like NY - but I recall that they said they'd be rehearsing in SF. (Also isn't it a little early - previews begin in early March)
Would it be common or reasonable to start rehearsal in NY and move to SF after a couple of weeks and continue rehearsing there?

Thank you for your commentless link to the tour thread, BC. I've been reading it.
My question was more specific to the question of rehearsal periods and, while pertaining to the Hamilton tour, was intended to open answers up to more general discussion of rehearsal periods.
Where would we be without our thread police?

The rehearsals are definitely happening in NYC for now, as Michael Luwoye is in rehearsals while continuing to alternate at the Rodgers https://www.instagram.com/p/BPVYh_MhSIB/

Rehearsals usually last as long as possible in NYC before heading to the point-of-origin city.

I think Jordan Donica is pulling double-duty as well...
Side note: is James Barbour on vacation?
Update: Jordan Donica is leaving Phantom this weekend. Others pulling double duty will probably start leaving their shows as well.

Does naming the tour Angelica imply they will be launching multiple US tour companies running simultaneously like wicked did for so many years?
PS Only 52 days til HamiltonSF...woo hoo!

I'm confused by this. Did they name more than one Angelica?

The tour that opens in SF is the "Angelica Tour." Expect more touring companies to launch soon, probably named "Eliza" and "Peggy" if I had to guess.

I seem to recall they said they'll launch another tour in 2018, after London, and that it was to start in Seattle (which surprised me, being just up the coast from SF & LA). At some time after that, the Chicago sit-down was expected to become a third tour.

Yep. There will be an "Eliza" tour.

No. Tours name their different productions for logistical purposes. Les Miz had the Valjean, Fantine, and Marius companies (I'm not sure what the 25th was, if anything). For some reason Jersey Boys called their Chicago company the Chicago Zephyr. Mormon had/has Latter-Day and Jumamosi.

The name doesn't necessarily mean anything the Matilda tour is called the acrobat tour and there is only one Matilda tour.

Usually when they "name" a tour, it is part of the legal name of the touring entity - distinguishing it from any other production. For example, the 2nd National tour of Wicked I believe is "Wicked Munchkinland LP" and colloquially it is known as the Munchinkinland tour (versus the Emerald City tour, which closed several months back). I haven't seen anything with the legal name of the Angelica tour, so I can't confirm that is holding true for them.
So, if I had to guess, I would venture to say that Matilda probably at one point thought they would have two tours (or entertained the idea), leading to distinguishing it as the "Acrobat tour".
Lion King has the Gazelle company still out, but I am blanking on the other tour's name (Cheetah, maybe?)

Having visited the tour site, that is a helluva cast hitting San Francisco.
I know that both the SF and LA runs are multiple months, but considering the blockbuster this musical is, why is it only limited to 5 months (plus or minus) in each city? I would think they could sell tickets beyond that.
And Chicago is open-ended?
Is that because Chicago is considered more of a "theater town" than L.A.?
I'm glad I was able to see it in NYC early last year. Takes the pressure off getting a ticket....in case it doesn't happen. Would mind seeing Javier Munoz though.

Well you could say Chicago is a bigger theatre town, but I think it's mostly, because Chicago gets tourists from all the surrounding states in the Midwest. So Hamilton Chicago is acting as the Midwest production right now.

Thanks for the reminder, which reminded me that you can find the Book of Mormon Jumamosi tour's SEC filing here... I haven't found the Hamilton one (yet).

Has it been confirmed whether or not Luwoye is slated to do all 8 performances a week? Does he have an alternate?
