I'm watching the Stratford video. I actually really like Cook, and I'm a huge fan of Buckley in the role. (Though, Buckley is unbeatable in "Eve Was Weak")
I still think CARRIE is a thousand times better than WEDDING SINGER.
I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but... One of the stars of the Stratford/Broadway stagings recently contacted me -- I'm not at liberty to reveal who they are quite yet, but suffice it to say that they had a key role in the play. This person is very interested in seeing a book written that chronicles the behind the scenes story of the musical of 'Carrie' -- and there's a lot of stories still untold. With their enthusiasm, it's highly plausible that a book is gonna happen, and quite possibly very soon. I think there's definitely a market for it, but I wondered what some of you think.
Also, I haven't even discussed this with them yet but give me some feedback here... Should it end at Broadway? Personally, I think it's very interesting that 'Carrie' has become so legendary that there's been numerous unofficial stagings, spoofs... and, of course, the You Tube phenomenon and oft-rumored revival. Should the book delve into any of that? Let me know your thoughts.
For those that replied to wanting to see the video from the Gammel Hellerup Gymnasium production, I'm working on uploading the files. I check with the director who gave me the tape if it was ok and he said yes so give me a few days.
Thank you soooo much for getting the Gymnasium production to us! So nice to see people just sharing and not charging for something they don't have a right to charge for. You're awesome man!
cant wait to see it XXXXXxx

A book about Carrie and it's problems backstage, of course I'd read that!
totally DLing the videos when I get back home! I am super excited to see this! So excited I may flame out all over my office and start singing . . . maybe.

I really think the show could do well if they fixed the choreography and special effects. I wish they could do a film version as a musical but I don't see that happening lol.
Any E.T.A. on that video, metropolis? I've heard the audio and am looking forward to seeing how it was staged.
VinnieRattolle -- wishful thinking isn't going to make that book write itself... someone has to.
The only person who has ever cared to dwelve into CARRIE was Ken Mandelbaum. Unfortunately, it was only in a few pages of a book.
If your little 'unmentionable' friend is interested, why don't THEY write the damn book as they were privy to the goings-on. Tell THEM to get the ball going instead of waiting for someone to approach them with questions.
Lazy people irk me. Time for some pie.

I've been listening and singing I Remember How Those Boys Could Dance and And Eve Was Weak all week!
It has that effect on people...sometimes I will get on this Carrie kick, and I swear I have to listen to it for an entire week (well, at least two or three times through) -- I blast it in the car frequently Even the tackiest/worst parts of the show...get that Carrie rush going. I can't decide if I like Stratford or Broadway better? Oh, well, maybe another listen to each will help me settle the eternal question...?
Oooooh, Don't Waste the Moon (dee dah duh)
Kill the pig, pig, pig, pig! Kill It!
That's how it staaaaarts!
Many years ago Charlotte d'Amboise signed my leatherbound CARRIE libretto/script:
"Out for Blood"
- Charlotte d'Amboise
I gave her the copy she owns of the full show 2-CD soundboard recording.
Yes, wonderful!
Our company Vertigo here in the UK has being trying to get rights to produce this show for a 1 week run here in the UK.Now the shows rights are not available so we have had to go to everyone humanly possible to get permission.
We didn't hear back from most grrr but we have heard back from Lawrence D Cohen who is going to try and sort something for us but said permission has only being granted once before.
He did however say because we are a non profit company and the fact that we will be giving some of the box office to a local Gay and Lesbian organization that that stands us in good stead
i will keep you posted
Is this going to be your next Canal Street production?
God no
We will talk to the Lowry, the LBT in Huddersfield and a few other places. The show wont be small if we get to do it, it will be pretty big.
Our next Canal Street one will be announced in July (its very raunchy lol)
