Couldn’t let the day go by without acknowledging the 20th anniversary of the greatest musical of the century, so far.

I don’t think I ever really thought about how they opened at this time of year. No wonder they struggled.
I am glad the show has been vindicated by history and that more people got exposed to it from the revival, even if I didn’t like that production much. That original cast album though is perfection, and I’m glad there’s a high quality recording of the whole show floating around. I rewatch it at least once a year. Truly a remarkable production in all regards. Wild to think it was dismissed by many critics. It’s the type of show that now would easily have won Best Musical.

...and yet it didn't win best revival during the height of BLM and Sharon's shocking loss to Paradis Square...so, sadly, not convinced it would win today

I personally wouldn’t have given either the production or Clarke those wins. I think Caroline is a better show than Company, but that production of Company was fantastic.
I knew it wouldn’t win revival but I had this tiny amount of hope the Tony voters would have still awarded it, as an apology for not giving it to the original.
A true classic and one of my favorite shows of all time. Such a complex and fascinating piece.
