yay! I hope to see it at some point. the clips I've seen look amazing and the London cast recording has quickly become one of my favorite recordings to listen to.

I am SO jealous of anyone who gets to go!
If someone were to procure an opening night showbill/playbill I would be happy to purchase one!!! *cough cough*

I'm pretty sure I got a Showbill at The Lion King when I saw it back in March 1999.

I saw the show on Tuesday night.
I have never liked Mary Poppins, I found the movie dull and boring, even as a child, and the books never interested me all that much. The only reason I went to the show was because my best friend gave me a ticket as a belated birthday gift, and so I was obliged to go.
It was one of the most magical nights of theatre I've experienced in a very long time. Some of the show doesn't quite work yet, and there is some tightening that needs to happen, and there are perhaps a few too many un-necessary scenes, but overall, I absolutely LOVED it, and many of the effects and little stage tricks are absolutely WONDERFUL.
And don't get me STARTED on "Step In Time" and Mary's end ascension! BRILL.
If you can, DEFINITELY see this show.
(And the orchestra is AMAZING.)

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you.
Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

they probably had the pic up last night because us regular folk cant come tonight. its 'invite only'.
I still want one of those damned opening night showbills.

that's right. Spring Awakening doesn't open until December 10th. someone made a mistake. maybe that's why it was taken down.

So I decided that since I couldn't get into opening night, I would go and see the red carpet anyway...and I'm so glad I did. First of all, the carpet was blue to match the show's logo, which was a nice touch. I had a prime spot in the front of the barricades. In case anyone is interested, here are the celebrities I saw walk by:
Rosie O'Donnell
Angela Lansbury
Marian Seldes
Audra McDonald
Joel Grey
Kelli O'Hara
Jack Noseworthy
Harvey Firestein
Sherie Renee Scott
Adam Pascal
Sara Gettelfinger
Richard Kind
Jim Dale
Jacob Young
Jack O'Brien
Liz Smith
I may have forgotten a few people, but I did not see Julie Andrews or Dick Van Dyke (if they were there, they may have come in through the stage door on 41st street to avoid the madness). It was a lot of fun, and I *just* missed the rain. I'm glad I went.
