I just heard that Harry Connick Jr. fell and tore a calf muscle at Sunday's performance of THE PAJAMA GAME, which could be a very serious injury. And word on this? Hoping it doesn't keep him out of the show.
Totally off topic, but of interest, I also heard that Connick Jr. is opening the Tony Awards - with his jazz band.

Oh No! At least the show has only three more weeks starting tommorow. That must be a huge muscle tear!

Posted: 5/30/06 at 2:25pmI was there Sunday evening at the 7:30 show. If he hurt himself, he surely didn't let on. (I was in the front row center).

I sure hope that his injury is not serious. I sure love him and his music. I grew up in New Orleans and have heard him all my life.
Been enjoying my CD of THE PAJAMA GAME, too, and wish I had had the chance to see it before it closed

Posted: 5/30/06 at 4:23pmIt hasn't been announced on any website, so it musn't be that bad. (Or maybe Roundabout's trying to get people to show up this week if he's out.)

If people were there, it must be true.
However, YankeeFan is right- if he continued on with the show, he must be okay.
If he ever was out, just curious, would the Hernandon's Hideway section be changed?

I was there on Sunday night, and I noticed that he did not do all of the choreography for Hernando's Hideaway with the rest of the cast, instead he just kept playing the piano. Otherwise he seemed fine, though.
Maybe it happened at the end of Once a Year Day, when they all fall to the ground, because he performed all the choreography for that number...
Get well soon, Harry!

It's from a reliable source...
That said, I don't know a lot of the details. For all I know, the accident happened backstage after the show was finished. What I did hear is torn left calf muscle, which, if it's true, could potentially take him out of the show.
I imagine we will hear more tomorrow, as there is no performance of PJ tonight.

Posted: 5/30/06 at 5:19pmI hope he doesn't open the Awards with his Jazz Band. Unless it is something from the show. I will be there and am not really a Connick fan. I was hoping for a big splashy B'way number.

No offense.
But I tend not to believe those "reliable source" rumors.

Posted: 5/31/06 at 7:46pmThis is such a hilarious thread. One person says he hurt himself, three others say they were there that night and he looked fine and people keep on writing "I'm so sad for him" totally ignoring the notes about him being fine. This is a perfect example of not reading the contents of the thred before reacting to the headline. In college, my professors would certainly deduct points for that type of activity.

I heard his leg fell off and they're recasting the part with Patti LuPone, and Judy Kaye is taking over Sweeney tonight, and...
No really.
