I don't think there is necessarily a bad seat. Even with the overhang, there is about one tiny scene you'll miss because of it. To be fair, it is a cool part, but you'll be able to deduct what's going on. As for the balcony, I think some people complain about the railing, but I think if you get a booster seat you should be fine. If you have neck problems I probably wouldn't sit there.
What I do want to add - and this is just my personal opinion - is that I believe pricing has a lot to do with what I consider a "bad" seat. The pricing for the show is extremely inconsistent.
You could pay 95$ for great orchestra seats! Or you could pay 95$ for Balcony. It seems very unfair, and I'm usually good at figuring out ticket algorithms, but this one truly escapes me. It's a gamble. You could buy balcony now and then closer to the show they'll lower the price of the premium or prime tickets. Or the opposite could happen. I used to think it was based off availability, but I don't even think that's true, as I've seen shows in the yellow lower their prices, and shows in the green raise them. It legitimately seems random.
So my general rule of thumb is to follow a personal code of what each seat is "worth". I'd probably only pay 40$ for balcony (per part), 95$ I would get orchestra P or closer or first two rows Dress Circle, and anything higher I would fish for the *perfect* seat. Of course, this is assuming you have the luxury to fish around in different dates. I know not everyone does.
